Bas' POV

I was awakened by the persistent ringing of my phone. The ringtone indicated that it was P'Godt calling me.

I tried to sit up but instantly fell back on my pillows. I was having a splitting headache.

I tried to recall the previous night's events. After the dinner I had at the Indian restaurant with Joss, he brought me back to his condo unit where we watched a movie.

I knew that I had more than one bottle of beer. I am still a novice at beer drinking or any alcoholic drinks for that matter. That is why I get drunk too quickly.

The phone stopped ringing. I was not inclined to call back P'God because my head hurt too much.

I tried to go back to sleep but suddenly there was a quick knock on my door and my mom entered the room holding out her phone to me.

"Bas," she said, "Godt is asking to talk to you from my phone because you won't answer yours."

"Mom, my head hurts too much," I complained, "I cannot talk to anybody right now."

"Then at least say that to Godt. Talk to him. He's very worried about you."

I took the phone from my mom.

"P'Godt," I knew my voice sounded terrible.

"Bas, I know you must be feeling terrible right now, but please tell me just one thing. Who were you with last night?"

Shit, I can't tell him.

"Please, P"Godt," I begged, "can't we talk a little later when I'm feeling better?"

"A name, Just give me a name," his voice was starting to sound cold and distant.

"Even if I told you, it's not anybody you know," I said, hoping against hope that he would stop interrogating me.

"Bas, are you cheating on me?"

He just went straight for the kill.

"No, P'Godt, I'm not! All I did was go out for dinner, that's all!"

"Why won't you tell me his name?"

"Because you don't know him, P'Godt!" I was starting to get upset and defensive.

"Try me," he insisted.

I kept quiet.

"Are you trying to protect him, Bas?" his voice went cold and distant again.

I handed the phone back to mom.

"I can't talk to him anymore, mom," I said, pressing my fingers on both sides of my head.

"Godt, I'm so sorry, but Bas handed me back the phone. He is in so much pain right now. Maybe it would be good to talk to him again much later after he has nursed his headache," I heard my mom say on the phone as she walked out the door of my bedroom.

The truth was I was starting to feel some attraction towards Joss and the constant absence of P'Godt was making me very lonely. The gentle friendliness of Joss was a potent balm to my lonely soul.

Not long after I got a text from Joss.

"Hey, buddy, just checking that you're alright."

"I got a splitting headache." I confessed.

"Sorry to hear that. If you can manage to make yourself some soybean sprouts soup, it gets rid of a hangover effectively. I'm talking from experience."

"Thanks for the tip, P'Joss. I'm gonna ask my mom to make it for me."

"No need to bother her, I can come over and bring you some."

"Are you sure?"

"Sure. I'm sure! Give me about twenty minutes. I'll be there!"

I must have fallen asleep again because I was awakened by a loud knock on my door and when I opened my eyes P'Godt walked in.
