Before the Christmas Party

The day of the party I woke up so sore I wasn't sure I could even get out of bed. My back had a bruise in the shape of his shoe.

I got up and went through all of my duties, made him breakfast and saw him off to work. All without us speaking a word to each other.

After cleaning the house I decided to start getting ready. I got in the shower and and carefully went about the process of cleaning myself while trying to block out the pain. I was shaving my legs when I heard the bathroom door open.

"Oh my God, Rose, I'm so sorry. I'm going to do better. I didn't realize how hard I... we should start trying to work at our relationship. Is there anything I can do to help you right now?" Bo asked sounding sincere.

This is different. He has never once apologized for anything. He rarely actually struck me, but that's because I didn't give him reason.

"I know you probably don't believe me, or you are in shock? I'm being sincere. I really do regret my actions, I have thought of nothing else the last 2 nights. I know you weren't flirting with him, I just didn't like how he was looking at you and I got jealous."

"It's ok." I wasn't sure what else to say.

"Get dressed, I'm taking you back to the salon for hair and make-up for the party. Seeing them do it again will help you be more sure what to do when we go out the next time."

"The next time?"

"Yes, I meant it. If all goes well tonight we will go out more. I know the last few years have been hard on you and i'm sorry about that. I was a single man my whole life before you and it's been an adjustment. You are so young, I was scared if I took you out a lot that you would leave me. As we saw the other night I am not over those feelings but I am going to try my best to be a better husband."

"Okay, I would like that." I didn't believe him really but I needed to at least try, if he was serious my life would improve a lot. Maybe if things changed I could learn to care for him a little.

I got dressed and we went back to the salon. The ladies were excited to see me again and I opened up more, but Bo stayed close.

They did my hair up a different way this time and it was so beautiful. I couldn't believe when they finished that the person in the mirror was me. We had lunch in the food court this time, no fancy restaurant. By the time we got home we were actually kind of getting along. I could see my future changing a bit better now.

"Okay lets go over a few things before the party."

Here we go I thought.

"My co-workers know I am married, I don't talk about much with them but they think you really shy, thats how I... well.. there have been other work functions.

"Also, you know I work for Big Hit. We manage BTS and have a new group coming out next year."

"I heard of BTS a long time ago, before we were married. Have they been doing well?"

"Phenomenal. Actually, they are breaking down so many barriers. They have gained lots of popularity worldwide."

"Oh Bo! How great for you guys! I guess there are lots of eyes on Big Hit now?"

His eyes narrowed at me a little bit, almost imperceptibly. "Yes, also why the pressure has been on to bring you to a work function. We have lots of new employees and it's hard to continue deferring when they are all bringing their families in."

I wasn't sure this sounded good, he couldn't keep deferring? Now he wants to be better?

"We have over a hundred employees now. They are all bringing spouses and children. There could be 500 people there. You will need to try to stay close to me. Also, I thought we should watch some BTS videos so you aren't clueless in conversations."

He gave me a crash course in all things BTS and I couldn't help but be angry. I missed years of their music. They were amazing.

"They will there tonight as well, they probably will sing at least once or twice. You might get to meet them. Can you remember their names?"

"Yeah, I remember them from before."

"Ok, let's get your dress on."

We had forgotten that the back dipped, part of my bruise was visible. Bo got the foundation and covered it up and sprayed the setting stuff so it wouldn't rub off on the dress.

"I am so sorry. I can't believe this was my fault. That I hurt you like that."

"It's OK, you are making it up to me. I know you didn't mean it." I felt the lies coming out of my mouth didn't bother me so much at the moment. I was going to go to the party and possibly meet BTS!
