Tomorrow

I didn't want to go to sleep, because that meant tomorrow would get here and he would leave. I was safe and warm and comfortable and happy. I couldn't fight the sleepiness and drifted off in his arms, snuggled on the couch.

I woke up to my alarm blaring from the other room. "Lizzie, Lizzie. I need to get up. I'm sorry."

"Hmmm. What?" I sat up disoriented on the couch and not in bed. I moved enough so that he could get up.

I kissed her forehead and pulled her against me. "I love you. I love you so much. I have to get ready to go. I got a plane to catch. Will you shower with me?"

"I love you too. I'm going to miss you. Yeah." I let him take my hand and lead me. I stripped once we got to the bedroom. "How long is this trip?"

"Just the weekend. I'll be home Sunday morning. I got the earliest flight I could so I could get home to you. I am catching the latest I possibly can and get there in time today." I joined her in nakedness and then the shower. Last night didn't go as planned and that part of me was hungry for her, but I did not mind waiting it out. We got some intimate time together which would always be far more important than sex with her could ever be to me. I kissed her forehead and held her close for a moment. Sure enough, that part of me did exactly what it was supposed to. I grinned and shrugged. "Sorry. A mind of its own, I swear."

"Eh, my fault. He didn't get his last night." I was enjoying being held. "Just the weekend isn't so bad. I'm sure we can talk on the phone and text." I reached for his body wash and loofah.

"Blah, I got mine. You got yours. That is all that matters. He'll survive." I rinsed and smiled as I ran my hands through my wet hair. "This is honestly my favorite thing, next to cuddling and falling asleep with you in my arms and waking up that way and laughing with you and kissing you and living with you and loving you and, oh it's an endless list."

"What a coincidence. I love that list as well." He washed me, taking his time, loving me with his hands. I washed my hair and he washed his. "So Marisa is going on this trip right?"

"Yes. We'll be giving a clinic in south Texas to a bunch of High School Students. Shouldn't be too public of an event and we don't do photos or allow any public posts until the last day and after we have left."

"You will be in your element. It should be nice." I stepped out and grabbed us each a towel. "You have been so busy lately. Please don't burn yourself out."

I kissed her gently. "This work is easy work and I love doing it." I turned off the water and led her out of the shower to dry. I checked the time. I had some. "My bag is packed. How about a light breakfast. Then I have to go. Would you be willing to take me to the airport?"

"That sounds good. I would love to take you." I got dressed and threw my hair into a ponytail. "I can pick you up on Sunday too if you want."

"I want. Call me greedy, but I WANT." I grinned. "I really want. Now, about breakfast--" I pulled her to me and kissed her passionately. "Just hold onto that thought." I missed that kiss and I needed it. I moved to the kitchen with Lizzie in tow and started a quick and simple breakfast. We ate, and chatted then and headed to the airport.

I could have used more of that kiss. Breakfast was good. He drove to the airport. The drive was quiet and he held my hand the whole way. I cried when I hugged him goodbye. "Text me when you get there. Call me when you can. I love you."

I wiped at her tear. "I'll be home before you know it. This is the only part I hate about what I do. Someday you're just going to have to go with me." I didn't really care who was looking and who wasn't. I hugged her tightly and kissed her softly. "I love you. I've got to go." I got in the security line, made it through to the gate and into my seat before I started crying. When the old lady next to me inquired, I told her I hated flying. It was close enough to the truth. That brave older lady took my hand, she had no clue who I was supposed to be. She patted that back of it and smiled.
