I went inside and realized what it is. Two minutes before the clock strike twelve, the digital clock on the shelf informed me that today was September 16…the day I was reunited with Danielle, the only living grandmother I have left.
Meeting Bryan on this very day meant something. And I’ll hold on to that because this meant something.
I couldn’t really sleep tonight. Knowing that this day will fade away like any other, I was troubled, clearly. But we wake each morning for a reason. We don’t know what to expect and best yet to know what not to expect. Does that make sense?
4:52 AM 9/17
I gave up my sleep to write the letter I promised him. I was thinking a lot of cheesy things and disregarded them. It was stupid, really.
And I realized what I should write.
You changed me, you know.
I began.
Of all the things I thought I never had to do…you made me do it. You made me feel angry and insulted and doubtful. And yet you also made me feel something I haven’t felt in a long time:
A fight
You made me fight and opened my eyes to the things I closed them to.
