Magnificent earth pillars.

A proper place for a shrine to worship earth guardian, Gaia.

A ruined huge stone pedestal in the middle of the shrine.

Charlie feels nervous. She stares Luc and he nods. Actually she feels weird this morning. Weak and powerless. But she says nothing. Doesn't want to make her friends worried.

(I just have to gather up more strength. This is the last shrine. When the Guardians are powerful again, they could fight the Demon Lord. And maybe they could defeat him this time? Hopefully...)

She begins to sing praises for the earth guardian.

Gaia's body begins to shine and grows bigger and bigger during the performance.

Charlie collapses after she finished singing for Gaia.

Her breathing is shallow. Life is seeping out of her. She's dying right in front of Luc's eyes.

"No! What have I done?" yells Luc.

He lifts her up, putting her head on his lap. She smiles weakly. Gasping for air.

She says, "Love you..."

And she died. In his arms.

"Gaia! What happened?" yells Luc angrily.

Gaia is silent. His form has changed. No longer a cute little rat. He is now a giant earth golem.

Undine replies, "Humans abandoned us. It's time for us, the guardians to turn our backs against you. Foolish humans should cease to exist on this planet. Let's go, Gaia."

The earth golem only replies, "I'm sorry, Luc. Never wanted to hurt her..."

The guardians have left.

Luc screams wildly. And something in his heart broke. His appearance changes into dark armored beetle. And this time he knows he has changed into full fledged demon. Could never turn back into his human form again.

The new demon, a beetle King swears loudly, "Guardians! I shall kill all of you! None of you shall live! A cruel painful death!"

The guardians have gone. Never look back again. Totally ignored his death threats.

He kisses Charlie's forehead. Still feels warm as if she's just sleeping, not dead.

Luc whispers, "I'm such an idiot. I love you too, Charlie. Shouldn't have trusted them. When the time comes, we will meet again. I swear I'll kill all the guardians for you."

The Arachnes show up as if they were summoned by Luc.

In their last encounter, Zephyr has told them what would happen to the priestess after she purified the last shrine. Charlie would die. Trading her life force to revive the Guardian's shrines. Making them powerful once more.

Luc lifts the dead body and leaves that place too. The Arachnes follow him from behind.

He would go back to Him.

To the Demon Lord who created him.

He would destroy the guardians with his own hands. No one betrayed him and lived another day. He would avenge Charlie's death. No more doubt in his heart.

He was born as a half demon. It's time to embrace his fate and lives his life as a true demons.

If he's needed to summon more demons to this realm, that would be his role. To crush the selfish Guardians.

"Luc..." says Claudia.

She wants to chase him.

Dante holds her hand. Nothing they say or do would change anything. Luc is filled with grief and murderous intent. No longer possible to hear logical talks. He would only kill Claudia.

Charlie is dead. Luc has left them.

Their journey is over.

Swarms of demons are heading this way. Dante doesn't even know if they would survive this day or not.

Practically he doesn't care anymore. No longer has enough will to continue fighting. All hope is lost.

For them.

For humankind.

Dante asks, "One last fight, K?

Kira replies, "I'm with you till the end, D."

Once again the human and parasite fight together. Their last battle.

Against thousands of demons swarming to their present location.

------------------------THE END------------------

This is the sad ending.

For choosing to believe in the guardians (A option).

In adventure, choosing wrong decision could result in death.

The Guardians have fed up with humans for abandoning them. They sacrificed their power to seal away the Demon Lord.

What did they get?

Shrines were defiled and destroyed. They were forgotten, thought as myths.

No wonder they gave up on saving the selfish humans.

Next chapter would start soon.
