"The traffic is stuck, and you're not moving anywhere."
U2, Beautiful Day

AQUALAD PULLED THE DOORS OPEN, AND THE FOUR OF US STARED DOWN AT THE LONG DROP BELOW.

"Oh, that's why they need it." Mused Robin. I felt my heart jump into my throat as all the professionals swung down Robin's rope. I hesitated, before complying, and copying them to the best of my abilities. We only got down to sub level 25, as that was as far as Robin's rope would go. I pressed myself again at the wall, trying not to look at the terrifying shaft below us.

"Bypassing lift security..." Muttered Robin, as he typed on what looked like a virtual computer. I had never been more freaked out.
What if I messed up the mission for these guys? Why didn't the League know they were here?

How in the name of лайно did that boy get such good looks?!

I had to put my questions aside, as the lift door opened and we came into a large corridor. We slowly stepped forwards, but then Kid Flash ran off.

"Kid, wait!" Hissed Kaldur.

"Does he always do that?" I asked quietly.

"Pretty much," replied Robin.

Kid Flash was almost run over by what looked like a massive monster. Loads of them trundled past us, as we watched in shock.

"What on Earth?..." I squeaked, trying not to start screaming.

Either I was too quiet, or the others ignored me, because my remark went unnoticed. We got to what looked like a storage room, and, of course, Robin disabled the doors. It was when we got in there, that we all had to take a breath.

"Ok, I'm officially whelmed," Robin breathed.
I was pretty whelmed too. In front of us, were what looked like creatures in jars that were pumping energy into the station.

While me, KF, and Kaldur all went to look at them, Robin hacked the systems. By now I was sure something was up with my feelings for this guy.

"This is why no one knows about this place; it's off the grid! It generates its own electricity, with these... Things," KF settled for. "Must be what they're bred for."

"Even the name Katniss is a clue," I found myself saying, "there was another Katniss that tried to produce cloned plants."

"And this Katniss produces clones too! Let's find out why," Robin said.

"They call them... Ginomorphs. Woah, look at the stats on these things! Super strength, telepathy, razor claws; these are living weapons!"

A chill went up my spine. This is the sort of stuff Dad would have liked.

Bloody hell, Brookston! Now is not the time to think about Dad!

If I haven't introduced her, that is my insecure voice in my head, that supplies my unspoken sarcasm, and gives me the unwelcome benefit of doubt.

"They're engineering an army," KF said quietly.

"Wait, there's something else. Project KR... Argh, the file's triple incrypted, I can't-"

"Don't move!"

I almost screamed, but I did jump. To our right, was what looked like a security guard. He had those creatures with him.

This was getting worse by the minute.

"Wait... Robin? Aqualad? Kid Flash?"

"At least he got your name right," smirked Robin. KF gave him a death, stare. Almost instantly, I could tell those two were close.

"I know you. You're Guardian, a hero." Aqualad stated.

"I do my best. But who is that?" Asked Guardian, pointing a finger at me. I swore in German under my breath.

"Never mind who she is! What are you doing here?!" Snapped KF.

"Chief of security. You are trespassing. But we can call the Justice League, figure this out."

"You think the League is gonna approve of you breeding weapons?!" Kid Flash spat back.

"Weapons? What'd you-" The ginomorph on Guardian's shoulder glowed red, and he put a hand to his head, closing his eyes. "What am I... Ugh... My head..."

It stopped glowing, and his eyes narrowed.
"Take 'em down hard! No mercy!" The creatures jumped forward, and I felt my heart leap into my throat.

"Now we'll see how good of a fighter you are," KF muttered, as Robin set up a smoke screen. I couldn't really see anything, but I let out a leg and hit something. Then I quickly drew out my guns. I don't remember much after that, except doing a lot of kicking and punching, and that I was last through the elevator doors. I rushed in after firing my last shots and fell on the floor in the process. I could only blame my natural klutzy nature.

"Wow," said Robin, looking at me with wide eyes, "you're really good!"

"Surprised?" I found myself saying, raising an eyebrow.

He turned red, and made stuttering sounds, which I felt mega guilty about. But that was all put to the side, when I heard Aqualad say, "We're headed down?!"

"Dude!" KF said angrily, "out is up!"

"Excuse me? Project KR, it's down on sub level 52!" Robin retorted.

"This is out of control," murmured Kaldur. "Perhaps... Perhaps we should contact the League."

I jumped in, "If that happens, then I have to be off the scene, quick smart,"

Suddenly we arrived at the level. We all readied ourselves for an attack, but we never got it. It was a strange map of red hallways.
Robin took off instantly.

"We... Are already here," KF tried to reason, before taking off after him. Aqualad sighed, before following. Slowly, timidly, I tagged behind.  We came to a load of barrels, but nothing there looked very interesting.
"Which. Way." Aqualad snapped, more than asked.

"Yeah, bizzare looking hallway one, or bizzare looking hallway two?" Robin said, gesturing to the two.

"Halt!" Came a voice. I looked up, and to my surprise, it was the guy with horns from the lift. Using some kind of telekinetic power, he threw some stuff at us. It missed, but we ran anyway.

I just followed Robin and Aqualad, KF was already way ahead. When we got there, he'd lodged a canister into the closing doors of project KR.

Wait, how did we even get here? The question actually is, how did I get into this mess? Does life have some kinda personal grudge against me?

"Hurry!" He yelled. I was second to last, before Aqualad kicked the canister out.

"I disabled the door, we're safe," Robin informed us.

"We're trapped," said Kaldur, looking more worried than ever.

Not as worried as me, I'll bet.

It was true; I was holding back an anxiety attack, which was something I was used to, but on a mission it was much more intense than usual.

"Uh, guys? You'll wanna see this." Wally stated from the front of the room. He typed onto the control pad in front of him, and the safety dome to a massive pod opened.

"Woah," Robin mumbled.

He had a right to say, because inside that pod, was what looked like a clone; with none other than Superman's symbol on his chest.
