"It's frightening, wish I could stop this world from fighting."
Glen Campbell, Southern Nights

"SHADY? SHADY, WAKE UP."

I slowly opened my eyes from my slumber, and gathered my thoughts.

Brookston, you're on a mission!

I blinked, and remembered that I was on a covert job to Santa Prisca. I sat up in my seat, and also remembered that I was on the bioship; then I looked behind me, to see Robin grinning at me. I supposed he'd been the one who'd woken me up.

"Late night?" he asked.

"You could say," I replied, rubbing my eyes.

"Drop zone A in thirty." Meghan informed us. After Kaldur disabled the sensors, when he was dropped out of the ship, it was drop zone B, where the rest of us were going to get off.

I didn't have a belt to attach the cable line to, so I just held on to it. Wally was enjoying his new stealth suit, at that point I remembered the dark glasses Natasha had got me. I put on my black camouflage hat, and then the glasses, which were surprisingly cool. I tapped them, and was surprised to see they were pretty high tech.

"Wow, you look like a soldier!" Wally commented.

"Isn't... Isn't that the point?" I asked nervously.

"I thought you'd wear a more recognizable outfit."

"Um, no... sorry,"

"Hey Soupy! Not too late to try on the new stealth tech!" Wally exclaimed, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively at Superboy.

"No capes, no tights," Superboy replied, folding his arms, "no offense."

Pfft, yeah, colourful spandex.

"That totally works for you," Meghan said dreamily. Superboy gave her a look. "In that you can totally do good work in those clothes!" she said quickly. Superboy raised an eyebrow; Meghan placed her hood over her face, and turned invisible, out of shame.

At the time, I had a sense for knowing when there is a connection between two people.

Mmm... I wonder...

We all dropped down, apart from Superboy who managed to make a crater just by jumping from the ship. "Knew I didn't need a line," he smirked.

"And yet, creating a seismic event may have not helped us much with the covert!" hissed Robin.

"Aqualad! Drop B is go!" Meghan said.

"Head for the factory. I'll track your GPS signal and rendezvous ASAP." He answered.

"Roger that!"

We all started off, walking at a fast pace, through the jungle. This crazily somehow reminded me of my first field trip with Dad.

"Hurry up, Emilia. The buyer will be here soon."

I tried to catch up, evading a tree log on the muddy floor. I winced, as I watched Dad ready his sniper rifle.

"Dad, what's that for?"

"We don't want any witnesses," he said, pointing it through the trees, at a young man, who was looking through some binoculars. I squeezed my eyes shut.

I didn't see the kill, but I couldn't stop the shriek of surprise from the man echoing in my ringing ears.
