"My best friend told me what you did last night."
Wham, Wake Me Up"HELLO MEGHAN! We should hit the beach everyday!" Meghan laughed. Almost all of us were at the beach. Of course I was just going to watch, as I hated swimming.
"First, a moment of silence for our... Absent comrade." Robin said, putting a hand to his head. Even I had to admit to myself that looking at Robin shirtless made me want to start punching something.
"Poor Wally!" Sighed Meghan. I honestly tried not to laugh. It was Wally's first day of Softmore year and I could only imagine the stuff he was going through.
Suck it, American education system.
Wait, I'm in that.
"Are you sure you don't wanna go swimming Shady?" Robin's voice broke me out of my thoughts.
"Yes, yes, I'll be fine," I said distractedly, trying not to look at his toned chest.
Brookston, you perv.
I had simply gone for a light blue polo t-shirt with a black knee length skirt, with some shorts underneath to keep my dignity intact. I had refused point blank, to go swimming. I didn't care about the swim suit itself, but I detested swimming.
I got settled into a chair, and started to immerse myself into Bleak House by Charles Dickens. No more than FIVE MINUTES LATER, a massive wave got me soaked. I looked up to see the others laughing at me.
"Oh, it's on," I grinned evilly. I went inside and got on of my explosives. When I came out they were still in the water thankfully. So I just tossed it.
The look on their faces was priceless. I laughed so hard I almost got a stitch.
After that, where there was more explosives thrown and more water splashed, we had something to eat.I made myself try a hot dog, and surprisingly, it wasn't too bad. All in all, it wasn't a bad day, even though I got pretty much soaked. But the thing that was most relieving, was that they had forgiven me for the whole escorting and train incident.
I was now pushing my anger down now, whenever possible.£
"The Wallman is here!" Wally yelled, as he came through the zeta in his swimming stuff. "Now let's get this party star-" He tripped and fell on the floor, his stuff flying everywhere. "... Ted?" He finished.
"Wallman, huh? I love the uniform. What exactly are your powers?" The blond girl sneered, from the back of the room.
"Uh, who is this?" Wally asked, coming to his feet.
"What I've been trying to figure out," I answered weakly.
"Artemis. Your new teammate."
Oh, you've got to be pulling my bloody leg...
The surprising thing was, she sounded so familiar. Did I know her? I was pretty sure I'd heard her cocky voice somewhere...
Then I twigged it.Artemis Crock. She went to my school, had called her a few times for homework.
I thanked my lucky stars that I went by "Emily Rushman" at school, and not my real dumb Ukrainian name. Natasha's codename was "Natalie Rushman" so we pretty much had it covered."Kid Flash, never heard of you," Wally replied. Artemis looked a bit annoyed at this. I had never been more glad that my sunglasses were hiding my face, and that I'd also worn my hat.
To be honest I wasn't even listening to Green Arrow when he explained about her being his new protege and la di da. I was too busy being paranoid. I wasn't prepared to have my cover blown, not today at least. I was only snapped back into focus when I heard the computer announce Speedy.
