Danny suddenly took several steps back from the bowl and made sure he didn't fall, what the hell was that? Dumbledore suddenly spoke next to the bowl, "Curiosity is not a sin Danny, but you should exercise caution." Danny glanced at the bowl, "It's a pensive, very useful if, like me, you find your mind a wee bit stretched."
"It allows me to see once more things I've already seen, you see Danny I've searched and searched for something, some small detail. Something I might have overlooked, something that would explain why these terrible things have happened. Every time I get close to an answer it slips away, it's maddening."
Danny looked at Dumbledore, "What happened to Crouch's son?"
"He was sent to Azkaban, destroyed Barty to do it but he had no choice, the evidence was overwhelming, why do you ask?"
"Because he was in a dream I had, there was this old house and Voldemort was there but it was like he wasn't human, Wormtail was there and so was Crouch's son."
Dumbledore looked at him curiously, "Have there been other dreams like this one?"
"A few but it's always the same one." Dumbledore walked over to the pensive and Danny hesitated, "Some parts I know aren't happening but some of them seem more real."
Dumbledore looked at him, "I think it's unwise to linger over these dreams Danny, I think it's best of you simply..." Dumbledore put his wand to his temple and pulled out what looked like some sort of silver thread and put it in the pensive, "Cast them away."
Danny soon left Dumbledore's office and he heard Karkaroff talking, "It's a sign Severus, you know what it means as well as I."
The door to a broom closet opened and Danny saw what looked like the dark mark on Karkaroff's arm and it was moving. As soon as the two saw him Karkaroff hid the mark with his sleeve and quickly walked away. Danny moved to head back to his dorm, "Phantom, what's your hurry?"
Danny stopped and looked at Snape, the teacher continued, "Congratulations, your performance in the black lake was inspiring, gillyweed am I correct?"
"Yes."
"Ingenious." Snape walked into the closet which had shelves upon shelves of potions and ingredients for them, "A rather rare herb gillyweed, not something found in your everyday garden." Snape took a small bottle off one of the shelves, "Nor is this." Snape showed him the bottle, "Know what it is?"
Danny shrugged and Snape continued, "Veritas serum, three drops of this and you who know himself would spill his darkest secrets. The use of it on a students is, regrettably, forbidden, however, should you ever steal from my personal stores again my hand might just slip into your morning pumpkin juice."
Danny rolled his eyes, "I didn't steal anything, and even if I did there's no guarantee that stuff will work on me."
"Don't lie to me, gillyweed may be innocuous but boomslang skin, lacewing flies, you and your friends are brewing polyjuice potion and believe me, I'm going to find out why. And rest assured this potion would work on you, nothing can resist it."
Danny looked Snape in the eye, "You don't know what I am Snape." With that Danny walked away, the fact that polyjuice potion had come up again was odd though. He, Ron, and Hermione had used it in second year but they weren't now which meant someone else was. Death seemed rather unhappy with what was going on and Danny planned on finding out what was bothering him.
Time passed far too quickly and the third trial rolled around, he just had to get through this and he would be free to focus on what was going on. Cedric walked out first with his father, Fleur walked out with Maxime and her sister, Krum was with Karkaroff, and Dumbledore went with him. Dumbledore put a hand on his shoulder and looked like he was about to say something but decided not to.
