"Jackson!"
I laughed, flying down the street and dodging Terminus as he repeatedly reappeared in front of me. Julia, his assistant, was racing after us and laughing loudly, cheering me on.
I kicked my skateboard up off the ground to jump a three step rise in the ground, then kept going. Terminus yelled again in rage as I whipped past him once more.
This whole ritual had become almost a daily thing. Terminus greatly disliked having weapons in the city, but I generally disliked being weaponless as well. When Hazel had given me the skateboard she'd found in one of the little city shops, I knew it would be perfect for irritating the god.
Finally reaching my destination, I ducked into the deli and hid behind a vending machine. After a minute or two of silence, I figured I was okay.
"Harassing Terminus again, Haley?" The woman at the counter chuckled. "You know he's going to catch you one day, right?"
"Oh I'm sure he will, but until then I'm going to keep being a pain." I grinned, leaning my board against the front of the counter. "How's your morning been, Carmen?"
"Quiet, until you showed up." She smiled. "Are we doing your usual today?"
"Eh, surprise me." I shrugged.
"No allergies?"
"Nope. You ask me that every time."
Carmen waved me off. "It's my job. If you want to go sit down I'll let you know when it's ready."
I took my usual spot by the side window, dumping my bag out on the table.
I grabbed my pen and opened my notebook, beginning to write.
'Three Weeks, Two Days
I'm really getting into the swing of things here now. The Romans do a lot of things differently, but I remember a lot of the things I learned when I had amnesia so it didn't take much time to get back into the swing of things.
The best part about being an instructor now is that I have the free time to do what I want for most of the day. As long as I keep myself in shape and teach the kids properly, no one really cares what I do.
Everyone's been really receptive to calling me Haley as well, so that's nice.
I kind of miss Camp Half-Blood.
End of entry.'
I flipped the notebook closed and looked out the window.
"How's your day off been so far?" Carmen set a plate in front of me, with a sandwich, chips, and a pickle on it. I looked curiously at the meal, noting what was in the sandwich.
"Well you saw me spend a good twenty minutes bothering Terminus, which was fun, and I don't have to do much today except work out, so I'm doing great. It's nice not having the strict schedule... not that I had much of one anymore at Camp Half-Blood but they kept up appearances. Here no one cares what I do as long as I'm doing what I was brought over to."
Carmen sat down across from me at the table. "How's your little book going?"
"It's a journal." I chuckled, picking up the sandwich. "And I haven't missed a day yet. I probably will sooner or later, but for now I'm doing well with it."
She nodded, smiling, and leaned in a little. "If you were interested, there are a couple legacies and clear sighted mortals in the city that are going down to San Diego this weekend."
"Are you sure you want a son of Poseidon with you? I attract a lot of monsters."
Carmen raised her eyebrows. "And you can't deal with them? Everyone who's coming with is skilled enough to hold their own, and I'd guarantee you can outclass most of us that are going along. I'm not worried about it."
I took a bite of the sandwich, thinking. "If you really want me to go, I'll come along."
"Well most of the kids going idolize you. You're their favorite punk."
I laughed. "In California I'm the only punk, lets be honest. New York brat, through and through."
"You're not a brat. More of a nuisance than anything."
"Fair enough." I nodded, smiling. "Sure, I'll come with, as long as we can go to the beach."
"Oh of course." Carmen nodded. "Although, it might be messy, they usually are out here."
"I don't think I need to reiterate that I'm from New York. Let me know when you all plan on leaving and I'll meet you there."
[A/N So I'm going to call him Percy in the POVs, but obviously everyone at Camp Jupiter calls him Haley
