[A treat for y'all. This final chapter was written by the person this book is dedicated to, my favorite nerd, LordOfThePen. He wrote it, I edited it and made fun of him and CENSORED HIS POTTY MOUTH. Enjoy!]
Annabeth was wandering through Camp Half-Blood. She had a free hour or so before dinner, and was on her way to her cabin to do what she usually did when she has spare time and Luke is busy: Design buildings and monuments for fun, and practice. After all, it is best to keep herself sharp - you never know when some god or another (or an egotistical boyfriend) will commission a statue or structure to honor their greatness. There is always the alternative, though: say she's going to design buildings and monuments for fun and practice, when in actuality she's browsing memes and cat videos on Reddit.
Yeah, Leo's oPhone (he claimed it stood for Olympus) really took off.
What was Luke doing that she couldn't spend this hour with him? He had said he was doing some physical therapy exercise stuff with Percy to keep him on his toes. He had already finished his official therapy with Will - he wanted to be stronger, more balanced... better. Always striving, that man. And with the Roman camp visiting again, he was certainly looking for a way to show off.
She was absolutely thrilled, of course, when he revealed the success of the surgery. Leo had kept the secret well, and so had the others.
He'd been extremely proud to display his returned maneuverability, even going as far as to show off by walking from the Athena cabin to the Hermes cabin with her.
Apparently, as Will will tattle, he wasn't supposed to do that. His legs were still getting used to the whole walking thing again. After hearing this, he got a chastising glance from the stormy-eyed demigoddess. The response was a joking pout as he dropped back into his seat.
Annabeth was snapped from her thoughts as a kid bumped into her.
"Hey, watch out," Annabeth said, more aggressive than she probably should have.
"S-Sorry, Miss Annabeth," the terrified new blood apologized.
She sighed. "Sorry, kid, didn't mean to snap. What's got you in such a rush?"
The boy tilted his head. "You don't know? Mister Luke is going to fight Mister Percy... uh.. Haley... The Son of Poseidon!"
What.
"What do you mean?" Annabeth asked, masking what she's feeling.
"Yeah, apparently, Mister Luke challenged Mister Percy last week to a duel. Something about the true best swordsman."
Oh my gods. I can't believe it. Annabeth's inner monologue paused for a moment. No, no I totally can. D****t.
"When are they supposed to face off?" she asked with an innocent tone.
"In about a half hour, but you better hurry if you want the good seats!" the kid replied.
"Thanks. What's your name?" she asked the boy as he was headed in the direction of the arena, just to be nice.
"James Silver! See ya at the arena!" he called as he rushed away.
Annabeth also ran in the direction of the arena. She had to stop this. She couldn't let that idiot get himself killed, all over a stupid title.
Holy Hades, that line is long.
"I need to see Luke," Annabeth told the Satyr at the entrance.
"Hey no cutting!" a boy behind her called.
She turned to give them a death glare, only to turn into a shocked stare as she saw Jason Grace.
