Today was the day of the year that I've been waiting for. The one day where I can freely meet friends from other rookie groups. Cherry Bullet, The Boyz, Oneus, VeriVery, LOONA, GWSN, Stray Kids. The RIM, Rookie Idol Masquerade.

Oh, I'm Y/N. I'm the maknae from RedIllusion and the main dancer. RedIllusion is a 6 member co-ed group that was originally a project between JYP Ent. and SM Ent., but it was so successful that they decided to keep our group.

I am known as the idol with the most idol friends. I have friends in almost every group. What the public doesn't know is that there's one group that I can't stand. TXT. Especially Soobin.

He and I were supposed to have a collab track during our trainee days, but he would never show up to record. When he did, he would just sit there watching me record while eating snacks. In the end, the track was never released. The song was later given to Zion T. and Seulgi of Red Velvet.

Even though that was a while ago, I still haven't made up with him.

In the RIM, only rookie idols can attend. It has to be less than a year since they debuted. No cameras are allowed in, so the public has no idea that the RIM exists. The idols have to arrive in beautiful dresses and suits. But most importantly, they have to arrive with a mask that so that no other idols know who you are.

Unfortunately, I was the only person from my group that was going. This meant that I wouldn't recognize anyone that was there. I mean, you're not supposed to tell people your identity until the end anyway.

I arrived in a black limousine. Since my group name is RedIllusion, I wore a red dress. It was gradiented with black as well. I wore a shimmery mask to go with my dress.

As soon as I walked into the venue, everyone was staring at me. I walked over to the seat that was reserved for me, but someone quickly asked me for a dance. I kindly declined, and ordered some food. I could feel someone's hands on my shoulders.

"Well, I only know one person with this great of a fashion sense".

I recognized the voice right away. She was probably one of my best friends in the industry. (G)-Idle's Yuqi.

She looked stunning in a black dress with a grey mask.

We talked for some time, and then the MC of the RIM went on stage. "Welcome idols to the RIM. I hope you've all been having fun. As you know, there is a box where everyone must vote for the male and female with the best outfits. This poll will declare the RIM king and queen of 2019. Don't vote for yourself!"

Yuqi and I walked over to the box. I voted for a girl with a stunning blue dress with jewels, and a boy with a red to black gradiented suit. Matching with mine, but very eye-catching.

After everyone voted, the MC went up
on the stage. "Now, it's the moment you've all been waiting for, the announcement for the king and queen of RIM 2019! Ladies first! Congratulations to.......................

The girl with the gradiented red and black dress!"

The moment I heard my name, I was speechless. There were so many people in gorgeous dresses, and I was picked out of all of them. Yuqi was next to me giving me a happy squeal.

I made my way to the stage, and I could hear people admiring my dress. "Now, time for our RIM king of 2019. Congratulations to......................

The boy in the red to black suit!"

I wasn't surprised that he won. He was the most eye-catching in the venue. I voted for him too.

He made his way next to me, and we received our crowns. "Now, time for the king and queen's special dance!"

I did not expect that there would be a dance. Well, he offered his hand, and he led me to the middle of the dance floor. We danced together.

"So, I've been watching you for a little bit. It's hard for me to keep my eyes off of you."

His voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't exactly point out who it was.

"It's been a while, Y/N."

How does he know me? He's probably not someone I'm very close with, but that I still know besides seeing on tv.

The dance ended with everyone cheering. "Now, the king and queen shall take off their masks!"

I took mine off first, seeing that he already knew who I was. Everyone was "ooh"ing and "aah"ing. He took his off, and I couldn't believe who was smiling in front of my eyes.

He let his hand out to me, "I'm sorry about the trouble I caused during our trainee days. I hope we could be friends?"

I was still shocked, but I took his hand and gave him a handshake and small smile.
