Alright. Lets try this again. CHAPTER 6

Amber's POV
The sun filtering through my thin, white curtains cracks open my sleepy eyes. I stretch, and yawn, before sliding out of bed. My feet land on an empty sleeping bag. Brushing my fingers through my hair, I shuffle out to the hallway, following the smell of pancakes.
"How did you befriend Amber? I know it's kinda hard," Hearing my name stops me in my tracks, leaning curiously towards the sound of Andy's voice.
"I just kept trying. I knew that she didn't want to be my friend, or anybody's friend for that matter. I could see it in her eyes, I guess." Kailee responds.
"See what?"
"I guess... Just the fact that some shit had happened and she didn't trust anyone to go
through it again. But I liked her, though I barely knew her. So I just kept trying. It was weird, though. Amber would step into the room at Uni and would do her thing, rocking her smarts and acing the classes. I know she's not shy, but it was like the minute she stepped foot outside of the classroom, she was a whole different person. More closed off. I was curious,
I still am. But, I think she is so great, and I'm going to give her time to tell me why she's like that. I know she'll tell me when she's ready."
Neither talk for a while after that. I know that Kailee doesn't think much of what she just said, but Andy and I are thinking about it. You see, Kailee is somewhat like an angel. In these few days where she subconsciously forced me to be her friend, then best friend, she has given me her unwavering love as that friend. She is so in the dark about what I went through, and yet, she still cares. She's still... Here.
"Thank you, Kailee." Andy says so softly I have to strain my ears to pick up on his words.
"For what?" Her voice hasn't changed in volume like Andy's, confirming my notion that she doesn't know how important her small speech was to both of us, whether neither of them are aware that I am eavesdropping or not.
"Just..." He sighs. "You'll understand when she tells you. Let's just say that a lot of people she thought loved her left after that shit happened."
Kailee thinks about this. "Then they are missing out on an amazing person. I love that girl, she's so.. So Amber." She giggles, and Andy joins. They soon start flirting, so I make
myself known.
After breakfast, we see Kailee to the door, promising to meet her at the Panda Express for lunch. She has that shift, so she thinks it would be fun to serve us lunch there, claiming that we could be 'contributing to her paycheck.'
The moment I shut the door, I nudge Andy. "So? How much?"
He groans and rolls his eyes, jogging over to 'his chair' by the window, plopping down on
it. His long arms hang over the sides, a lazy smile on his face. "A lot."
"Yeah?" I join him on the large, worn and comfortable chair, and he puts his arms around me. "Enough to ask her out?"
He shrugs. "I don't know if she likes me back."
I think back to my conversation with Kailee, and nod my head knowingly. "She likes you."
Andy frowns at me, and I kiss his cheek playfully, before getting up and putting on a jacket.
"What?" He stands too, following me down that hall and into my bedroom. "How do you know that?" Andy inquires, practically begging me.
