I groaned as I awoke from my slumber and a deep one at that. My head throbbed with unbearable pain, causing my vision to be cloudy and splotches of color appearing in the most random of places, pleading to God for the pain to stop.

I scanned the area I was in, confused to see I was in a bed of various furs. It was quite comfy, to say the least. I peered around the quarters I was in, noticing no suspicious activity to be rendered a 'dangerous environment. But oh God was that bed warm, and...

Is that a person I see?!

I jolted up to view the figure in a darkened corner of the room, causing the person to stand at my reaction.

"Whoa, settle down there, lassie. Some rest will do you good." A Welsh accent spoke, apparently coming from the figure, which I figured out to be male. My brain was exploding with thoughts, but the aches in my head prevented them from being asked.

"Who are you, where am I, and what the hell is wrong with me?!" I shouted angrily at the male, who wasn't fazed the tiniest bit by my unpredictable outburst.

"I am Edward Kenway, and this is my cabin. I am the captain of this here vessel, the Jackdaw, and we are on the sea currently. As for you, we 'haven't got the faintest clue of what is the matter with ye'. We- well, me -found you lying on a beach, unconscious. So, I took ya' aboard." Edward cautiously and meticulously stepped towards me.

The faint rays of sunlight rebelled against the windows, spilling into the mostly dark room. They shone on Edward, and I had to take him in.

Glowing blonde hair, sharp facial features, gorgeous blue eyes, and he wore robes fitted to his body type, the common attire of the Assassins. He also had weapons strung across his body: pistols strapped to his chest as well as his hips; a pair of swords dangling at his sides, ready for combat; a blowpipe hanging freely on his back; some sort of bombs on his belt; and rugged good looks. Yes, that's a weapon. It's also a weakness.

I found myself staring at Edward, the guy I just met. No, actually, the man who kidnapped me. Edward just smirked. Oh, Jesus, this man's hot. Wait! What the frick am I thinking?! I can't, that's not acceptable, nor appropriate.

"Like what ya' see?" Edward asked cockily, smirking even more devilishly than before. I blushed furiously, suddenly remembering what happened the day before, or whenever it was.

Oh shit, I thought, My captain, abandoned me. They betrayed me.

"Now, lass, what's your name?" Edward questioned, sitting on the wooden floor with his legs sprawled out. I was caught between telling him everything about myself and making a run for it, though I was taking a liking to spill the entire extent of my identity to him.

"Um....(Y/n) (L/n)...But why should I trust you, stranger?" I innocently asked. This caused Edward to chuckle, his equipment clinking and clunking against each other at his movement.

"Lass, we ain't no strangers anymore. We just introduced, so why don't ya' trust me?" Edward proposed, his voice laden with confusion. Folding my arms, a scoff emitted from my throat. It echoed hollowly around the room.

"Yeah, but you still kidnapped me." I raised an eyebrow, averting my gaze to a table in the middle of the supposed cabin, layered with various maps of various regions. Edward frowned at my assumption, attempting to identify it that was some sort of a joke or a false accusation.

"What?! No, no lass, I saved you." Edward explained, taking a slight step forward, "Are ya' sick?.... Ya' know, right in the head?" Edward interrogated, triggering my eyes to widen to their full capacity.

"What are you talking about, ya' looby?!" I screeched, my pride hurt and name offended, "I ain't sick in the head! I clearly remember my crew members shouting like gulls, then blacking out, seeing your godforsaken face, blackin' out again, and waking up to see you again, so excuse my goddamn French, Mr. Kenway! God, are all of your kind this aggravating?!" I screamed, muttering that last part, anger evident (and very obvious) in my tone. Edward scowled at me, clearly not liking what I have to say.

"Excuse me!? I'm the one who saved your arse from a fate unimaginable, remember?!" Edward screamed so loud I think God heard him.

"I was going to ask you to join the Jackdaw, but now....forget it. Just, leave." Edward claimed, pinching the bridge of his nose. I instantly regretted yelling at him, and something in my head screaming, 'apologize, ya doof!'. It overpowered any other thoughts, making it hard to actually think.

"Edward, I.." I stammered, trying to put my previous thoughts into words, "I-I'm sorry....I-is that offer still standing?" I apologized, feeling guilty for talking to him the way I did.

"Whatever lassie." Edward scoffed and rolled his eyes, avoiding eye contact with me.

This is going to be a long life, I thought.
