Emily's POV
I was suddenly jolted awake from the sound of a gunshot. Remembering that I was still in the bed with an injured Carl, I carefully slid out of the bed and ran outside. I saw the men of the group in the field. Rick and Shane were carrying what looked as though it was a walker back towards the house. I was confused as to why until I saw Andrea running towards them.
I ran down to the where the RV was to stand next to Lori. She grabbed my shoulders as we watched the men come back. The closer they got, the more I could make out of what they were carrying.
My feet reacted before my brain could and I was running towards my father and Rick. Lori chased after me and grabbed me from behind dragging me to the ground.
"Daryl!" I shouted, heartbroken. Rick and Shane finally got out of the field and were headed to the house while Hershel led them to stitch Daryl up. He was covered in dirt, sweat, and blood. There was a gash on the left side of his head, along with a huge blood stained area of his shirt where it seemed he was bleeding.
Lori petted my matted hair as I cried, it soothed me a little bit. She kept whispering in my ear that Hershel would fix Daryl right up. I knew that was true, so I calmed down enough to stand on my own.
As Lori and I stood up from the dusty ground, T-Dog walked over to us. He had something in his hands.
"I think you should be the one to give this to Carol." He stated, placing what he was carrying in my hands and grimly walking away.
I looked down to see Sophia's doll that she had always carried with her. Daryl found Sophia's doll. This is the best piece of evidence that we have to find her. A single tear fell from my cheek as Lori led me back to the house, so I could give Carol her missing daughter's doll.
Once inside, I could see Carol in the kitchen talking with Beth and Patricia. I walked over to her and hugged her waist. Shocked, she jumped back, but hugged me back none the less.
"What's this all about?" She asked, a smile on her face. I hadn't seen that smile in what felt like forever and I was happy to see it.
When I pulled away, I handed her the doll. Her face turned into a look of shock. "Daryl went out today and he found this. I don't know where he found it, but he got hurt pretty bad to get it. We're going to find her, Carol." I stated, a wide smile across my face. For once, I really and truly believed that we would find Sophia. Things were going to get better.
Carol placed a hand over her mouth as she hugged the doll to her chest. Joyful tears ran down her face and she smiled, "Thank you, Emily."
I nodded before turning to Lori, "Where did they take Daryl? I want to see him."
"Upstairs. Come on, I'll walk you up." She smiled down at me. I smiled up at her as she placed an arm around my shoulder.
We walked up the stairs side by side. Lori led me to the room where they had taken Daryl. She knocked on the door and Rick opened it. He looked at Lori in confusion, before he looked down at me, a look on realization crossing his face. He stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.
