{27: Decisions}

Laurens POV

I arrive at the hospital. I go up to the front desk.

"Hi, I'm here to see my fiancee Normani Hamilton."

She gave me her room number and I got on the elevator and proceeded to her room.

"Here she is, Ms. Hamilton."

"Baby," she cried out to me hoarsely. It broke my heart to hear her like that, she hasn't been sick in so long, I don't know what could be the case could be.

"What happened to her doctor," I questioned, my heart in my stomach.

"Her blood pressure dropped severely, it scared me honestly. We managed to get it back up, but I think it's the pregnancy. Stuff like this usually happens, but it's nothing serious."

"So she'll be okay? No worried, right?"

Dr. Reegan nodded. Thank God, I am hoping everything goes the way I want it. I usually don't get what I want so hopefully I do this time, and plus I never had an actual family.

When my sister and brother got older, they got jobs and moved over the east coast. Which made me sad, but living with my parents for 20+ years you'd do it too.

"I'll leave you too it, call me if you need anything Ms. Hamilton."

The doctor then leaves. Me and Normani share a look. It was a mixed look: love, fear, and worry.

"My baby!" I then hugged her. I pecked her lips then sat in the chair next to her.

"You scared me, babes." I said.

"You were scared," Normani chuckled, "I thought I was going to die."

She looked down and grinned, "we, we were going to die. I swear to God if anything happens, my baby comes first."

I smile and squeeze her hand, "I love you Normani."

"I love you too, Lauren." We then share a kiss. I then FaceTime Nya.

"So is my neice and my sissy okay? Damn near had me following you, Lauren."

We all laugh, "I'm okay Nyny', just a little pressure drop. Nothing serious says the doctor."

"Take extra tests to be sure. The doctors could be off. If something like this could happen, you don't want anything else to. Especially since you're pregnant, you're body uses twice as much energy. I'm not a nurse just saying."

"Thanks for the heads up, Nya," Normani grins,"I think I'll consider some extra tests, just to be sure. I want the rest of my pregnancy to be good."

"Good." She answers. We talk for like five minutes then hang up.

"Babe, I'm hungry. Can you tell that nurse in the hallway to get me some food?"

I nod and walk out the room. I go up to nurse and did as I was asked. I then sit there and wait.

The nurse then comes back and I grab the tray.

I go back to the room and I see Normani sleep. Damn, that was fast. I was just ten minutes.

"Babe, I got your food." I say. No answer. I shake her, she doesn't budge.

"Baby!" Still no answer. I got instantly scared.

"Somebody! I need help I'm here!"

That's when Dr. Reegan and a few nurses comes in.

He then checks for a pulse. "No pulse, we got to be everybody! We're not just saving her."

They get a breathing machine and leave it on, but the doctor still didn't get a pulse.

"Is she going to be okay? We were supposed to find out the gender tomorrow."

"We don't know, ma'am. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to leave the room. I'll come out and let you know what's going on."

I nod, with a waterfall of tears on my face. Nya was right, the doctor was wrong. Now I might lose the best thing that's happened to me, why does this always happen to me? I can never be happy it's always something coming in and taking my happiness.

Maybe it's karma for the heroin. If I would have stayed in the house that night I would've never went to rehab and I would've graduating college earlier. Things would've been better if I made better choices.

A few moments later the doctor comes out.

"Any good news?" I asked.

"Well there's news," he said reluctantly. "Normani is in a coma. If she stays under for more than three weeks you'll have a hard decision to make."

I broke down after hearing that, a coma?! Whats going on, why is everything escalating so fast?

"What's the decision," I say as my voice croaked.

"Normani, or your child."
