---------------------------------------------------------------------
'Owen Ailey? What do you want with sat scum? We have taken the doses we wanted last week and I do no want to be seeing him any time sooner than next month' Lynettesaid bewildered. Her accent growing thicker as her aggravation was evident. As I said Ailey wasn't a favourite person amongst us.
'What did you do, Foxy?' the bewilderment gave way to suspicion.
'I did nothing! I swear!' I told her trying to defuse any anger fit she might unleash.
'Ailey was the one Smith was to meet last night. And since I know where to go to find him I thought I should come here first and inform you. Smith wasn't happy that he didn't show, so now, we are looking for any trace of that turd. But you have to help me out, Lynette. i need some money to get into his house.'
'You mean to tell me, sat man has gone missing? Good riddance!' she got up and was about to leave when I grabbed her hands and pulled her down to her chair again.
'Sit, you bloody madame! I need the money to get to his doorstep. He won't let me in without me showing it ever since I bashed his head on the banister! Come on! And he also went missing and Jones really thinks it was because there is someone scarier than Mr Smith. So give.' I opened a palm out with a serious look.
'What is wrong with ye, Foxy? Are ye trying to get killed? Ailey has ties to se army. If he knew who you are or se fact that the Colonel is looking for you he would not hesitate to sell you. Why do you want to help 'im?'
'Help him? Who said anything about helping him? I am trying to get on the Big Guys good side so I can dig deeper into his cause. He is not as an open book as I thought.'
Lynette snorted I told you so...
'Look from what I gathered Smith came here for something or someone and sombody got two of his men killed which pissed him off. But not enought to back off. Which... gives me the impression that Smith is after something big. Tell me, Lynette, how many high stake people are hiding in Longtongue right now?'
She stared at me while the cogs in her brain turned.
'Not many, but not all of them as important as you make it. If Ailey is involved then it will have something to do with se army of potions.'
'Or form what I gathered Ailey is selling information about these people and someone doesn't like it' I waved my hand in the air as an indicator.
'Your Foxy senses are tingling?' she mocked and pinched my cheek. I swatted it away scowling.
'What kind of motive would Aily have to sell out those men, Foxy? Some off them are his clients and they are paying him good coin. He would only ditch them if he got paid for like...years worth. Nobody here has that kind of coin, Foxy.'
'What if Smith does? What if Smith has the kind of coin Ailey craves?'
'Then 'here is Ailey, Foxy? He should 'ave showed up for the coin.'
'Well... There ar three options I thought about. He is dead, or alive in hiding, or he got paid by someone else and left.'
'Oh so now we have TWO rich men?'
'Bear with me, Lynette...'
'I am trying. But you forget where we are and you get excited about a conspiracy that isn't real. i will humour you and give you the money you need. You will see that Ailey is in his den with 'is tail tucked and scared to death. That I promise you my Foxy.'
