It was raining. Scratch that; it was downpouring. There was thunder rumbling in the distance as the ponies trudged through the mud. One of the Dwarves, Bifur, was trying to smoke a pipe. It was actually quite amusing for the Hobbit.
Brandy was used to going out and playing in the rain back in the Shire, so she was right at home in the rainy weather. The others, not so much.
"Here, Mr. Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge?" a voice called, and Brandy wasn't sure where it came from, so she ignored it.
"It is raining, Master Dwarf...and it will continue to rain until the rain is done." Gandalf said, a wizard like riddle being his response. "If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another Wizard."
Brandy perked up.
"Are there any?" she asked, curious to find out if there were more Wizards like the one she was travelling with.
"What?"
"Other Wizards."
"There are five of us. The greatest of our order is Saruman the White. Then there are the two Blue Wizards... Do you know, I've quite forgotten their names."
Brandy smiled at the last part, before noticing he left one out.
"And who is the fifth?"
"Well, that would be Radagast the Brown."
"Is he a great Wizard? Like you?" Brandy asked tilting her head.
"I think he's a very great Wizard, in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others. He keeps a watchful eyes over the vast forest lands to the east. And a good thing too. For always evil will look to find a foothold in this world."
Brandy smiled, straightening up in her saddle.
"Well, I would very much like to meet him."
~Time Skip Past A Very Cute Hedgehog And Some Big Spiders~
~Brandy's POV~
I watched as we rode up to a small farm house. Or, at least, that's what it used to be, for now it was only a skeleton of a structure. Thorin was facing us, and we came to a stop.
"We'll camp here for the night. Fili, Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them." I was only half paying attention to the Dwarf, and was watching Gandalf walk around the remains of the house, and I dismounted my pony.
"A farmer and his family used to live here." he mumbled to himself. No one seemed to hear him as Thorin kept barking out orders.
"Oin, Gloin. Get a fire going."
"Aye. Right you are."
"I think it would be wiser to move on. We could make for the Hidden Valley." I stopped moving around, watching Thorin and Gandalf facing off.
"I have told you already," Thorin grumbled, "I will not go near that place." I decided to stop eavesdropping on the pair, and get back to helping step up camp. I was helping Balin unload the ponies, when I noticed Gandalf stalking off.
"Everything all right? Gandalf, where are you going?" I asked, watching him stomp off away from the company angrily.
"To seek the company of the only one around here who's got any sense." he fumed, Dwarves stepping out of the way as to not get stepped on.
"And who's that?"
"Myself, Mr. Baggins. I've had enough Dwarves for one day." I turned back to Thorin, who was watching the Wizard walk away. He was frowning, but then again, he was almost always frowning.
