CHAPTER 6

Ariel POV

I woke up to Niklaus packing a turquoise suitcase. I rubbed my eyes and sat up, “What’s – What’s going on?”

“Morning love. I’m packing a suitcase for you. We are leaving in an hour or so for New Orleans. I have a coven to investigate you and a safe house,” Niklaus informed me.

“So I’m going to be leaving today? What about my clothes? Books? Hygiene supplies?” I asked.

“I will send you out with Rebekah once we get there to shop with you,” he zipped up the suitcase and started to leave the room, “Just get dressed and stuff, we will leave after breakfast. Kayla will be waiting outside of your door when you finish,”

I went into the bathroom, took a shower, and then slipped on the strapless, heart line short dress that Niklaus had left for me. As he said, Kayla was outside of my door, “Klaus left, but he will be returning shortly. He said to start breakfast without him.”

“Okay,” I followed her as she started to walk down the stairs, “Hey, are you coming with us to New Orleans today?”

“No,” she turned to walk backwards so she could face me, “Klaus wants me to stay behind, watch the manor, his other siblings. I’ll go down every once in a while though.”

“Oh,” I followed her to the large dining room in silence. Kol, Rebekah, and Elijah were there with another one who was angry that I did not know. He was wearing a dress shirt covered by a gray dress coat, keeping an air of aristocracy about him though not to the extent of Elijah's dress style. He seemed to get madder when I arrived.

“And this! Klaus is keeping this when he wouldn’t let me have Sage!” he shouted at his brothers and sister. I wondered who sage was.

“Finn, calm down. Nik is merely protecting her! And plus she isn’t a witch, she a friend of mine,” Rebekah told him, “and I think Niklaus cares for her a lot. I think she is teaching him to love!”

That caught me off guard. I tensed up as Finn walked over to me. His eyes were like daggers, “Well, if Niklaus can let Sage turn, I can let this little human turn!”

He stuck his fangs out and grabbed me. It was all so fast, but such a blur. Rebekah and the two brothers tried to peel Finn off of me. But they weren’t strong enough for whatever possessed him to do this. I flinched and squealed as he dug his fangs into my shoulder’s skin. But the moment he bit in and took a sip, he flung me away in pain, screaming, “What the hell! That, that tasted like poison!”

I saw as his fangs started to fall out and turn into ash. Kol exchanges bewildered glances at Rebekah and Elijah. That moment is the only one I can get away, they are preoccupied and Kayla is up cleaning my room. I run out of the dining room through the kitchen and out the back door. What was standing not too far away was not what I wanted to see.

“Ariel! What are you doing out here? Why aren’t you eating breakfast?” Klaus yelled to me as I ran to the woods. I only looked back at him as I was running. A glint of empathy shone in his eyes, when he noticed my shoulder, “Who did this to you?”

I did not have time to answer because Finn was running through the back door. I took off into the woods. Klaus following behind me.

“Finn, leave her alone! I did not give you permission to do this to her!” Niklaus yelled to his brother. He turned to me, “Ariel run! Just run! I’ll find you!”

Reluctantly, I did as he said. I ran for two or three minutes before my left foot got stuck. I closed my eyes as I heard a cracking noise that came with a sharp pain that shoot through me. I kept them squeezed tight as I rolled down a large rocky hill, holding my arms over my head. When I got to the bottom, I started to whimper and cry, trying not to make much noise. I heard someone above me on the hill.

                “Finn, don’t!” It was Klaus.

“Sage! Niklaus! Sage!” Finn sounded upset. A few seconds passed by before he spoke again, “Niklaus before you do this you need to know one thing about that walking blood bag you’re harboring,”

“Don’t talk about Ariel. She has nothing to do with this!” Klaus sneered. I heard leaves rustling around and someone scream. Bright flames danced above me. I tried to get up and run, but I cried out in pain instead.

“Ariel! Ariel, are you okay?” Klaus rushed to me. He knelt beside me, “What happed?”

I pointed to my knee and the top of the hill, trying to get my breathing back to normal and my voice back. When I did it was all raspy and scratchy like broken glass, “I was running. I fell down the hill. My knee. It cracked.”

“Shh, it’s going to be okay,” Niklaus comforts me. All of a sudden, I feel sick to my stomach. I feel bile rising up my throat, so I roll myself over and vomit. After I finished and stopped choking on myself, Niklaus pulls me back to him, “He bit you? How did you get him to stop?”

“I don’t know. He just did,” I croaked.

He pulled my hair away from my shoulder and examined the cut, “what else did he do?”

“Nothing. He stopped and I ran away,” I was on the verge of tears again.

“Are you sure? It looks like you were poisoned,” he tried to touch it, but decided not to, “I need to suck it out. I would let you drink from me, but for the poison, or whatever that is, I need to get it out. After you can drink, okay?”

“No! I don’t want you to!” I panicked, then saw the confusion in his eyes, “I’m scared, after what happened to Finn.”

                “To Finn?”

“Oh sorry, with Finn. I think it is just infected, I got a lot of dirt in it. I can just wrap my knee, I don’t want to be healed, it’s just all too much for one day.” I told him.

“Okay,” Niklaus picked me up and carried me back to the manor.  He got Kayla to wrap my knee before we left for the airport. I left on a private flight with Niklaus, Rebekah, and Elijah. When we arrived to New Orleans, we went to the Mikaelson Mansion and Niklaus unpacked my bags for me, while Elijah set me up for an online school.

I was just about to go up to see my room when the doorbell rang. Niklaus answered the door and brought in a dark skinned woman with very curly black hair. I knew right away that she was a witch. And also that she was here for me. To see who I was. To see what I was.
