Chapter 17

Ariel POV

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Kol’s slight Scottish accent echoed in my mind.

I lifted my head off of the back seat’s window as he looked at me in the rearview, “Mhum.”

“Okay,” he starts to drive off, but a male figure, who I made out to be Elijah stepped in front of the car, making Kol come to a jerking stop. Kol leaned his head out the window and shout to Elijah, “What the hell, brother? Klaus doesn’t care if we leave, just get out of our way.”

“I’m coming with you.” Elijah held up a duffel bag and a suit case.

                “What? No!” Kol spat.

                “Kol, let him.” I mumbled.

He looked back at me from the driver’s seat and nodded subtly, then turned back to Elijah, “Fine, get in!”

Elijah put the bags in the back with me and got into the passenger seat. After Kol started driving the road, he turned to me, “Ariel, how are you doing?”

“Not now, Elijah. I’m not in the mood for that.”

“I apologize.” He turned around to face front. I leaned my head back against the cold window and closed my eyes.

I woke up in the large maroon room that I had been in the first day of being captured by Niklaus. After taking in my surroundings, I got up and walked over to the chair which held a white Fall Out Boy shirt and a black skirt that ended in tattered ends of different sizes. Gathering the clothes in my arms, I went into the bathroom, got freshened up, and changed. There was a pair of Converse next to the door which I slipped on before leaving the room. I was about to go downstairs, but was startled when I bumped into someone.

“Ariel, good morning. How are you doing?” Elijah stopped me.

                “Well, I’m living, aren’t I?” I sighed.

“I apologize about Niklaus, how he treated you.” He was already in his suit pants and white shirt with a tie around his collar.

I looked up at his dark brown eyes and slowly blinked, “It’s not your fault, and you know it. I should have never let myself fall for him like that. I mean, what was I thinking? He kidnaped me for Christ’s sake!”

“This is not your fault. This is my brother’s fault. Niklaus is, well he is impulsive and makes huge mistakes, even has killed our father. But he means well, and loves you, Ariel. You were good for him, you made him happy, and you changed him for the better.”

“I don’t care! He turned my best friend and I killed him! And I’m not going back there, at least not any time soon, if ever.”

“Actually, Finn killed your barista.” A familiar voice came up behind me. I came face to face with Kelsey.

“What? That one that died here? Yeah, okay, then how did he come back from the grave?”

“I don’t know, but I found Ethan in the alley, and saw Finn. Klaus trained me to know stuff like this, okay, so I am positive that it was Finn.”

“He could have at least told me about my best friend being in his basement!” I shouted.

“Ariel,” Elijah interrupted and led me down the stairs into the dining room, “calm down. I understand you are upset, but working yourself up about it is not going to help you.”

I sat down at the table across from him, “Then what is going to help? I feel like I just lost a brother. Ethan helped me through so much, and now he’s gone!”

“You can start with eating breakfast,” he pushed me a plate of eggs, “and then you can take it one day at a time until it gets better.”

“Why were you upset yesterday?” I changed the subject.

                “When?”

“Yesterday morning at breakfast, you asked Rebekah why your brother’s and my ‘extra-curricular activities’ were your concern. You sounded bitter…and disgusted.”

Elijah’s face contorted as he looked down and his back straightened up more than it already was, “Ariel, please, I was just uncomfortable, that is all.”

We ate in silence until I was finished where I excused myself to get some school work done. At twelve in the afternoon, I decided to take a break. I wondered around the house and when I came to a room, which had a bar, an idea that was unlike me popped into my head. There was a bottle of vodka on the counter and a stack of shot glasses where the counter met the wall. After I grabbed one, I poured myself a shot. It burned as it went down my throat, but seconds later I felt numb. I took another shot, and another, and a few more until I was clearly drunk. It felt good.

I jumped when I heard the door open and saw that it was only Elijah. He walked over to me and took the glass out of my hand, “Ariel, what do you think you are doing?”

“What does it look like? I’m making myself feel better.”

“This is not what I meant, you know that.” His voice was louder and angrier than usual.

“Elijah! I know, but it worked didn’t it?” I slurred.

“Come on.” He grabbed my wrist and led me upstairs.

“Oh, Elijah, where are we going? Are we going on a trip?” I giggled.

“No, we are going to your room.”

                “You dirty boy!”

“Not like that,” he said as he brought me into my room and closed the door.

“You know, I finally understand why you were so uncomfortable when we were talking about me and Klaus having sex! It’s because you were jealous, because you want me. You love me and want to have hot sex just like Klaus and I had!” I leaned up and kissed Elijah hard on the lips.
