Chapter 10
Ariel POV
I ran down the street and trough a few blocks, I came to a large ornate cemetery, Lafayette Cemetery. I remembered that Elijah and Niklaus were talking about a large cemetery and that Celeste’s name came up. I decided to enter this creepy ass cemetery. I walked around huge polished cement looking marble crypts and mausoleums. There were large stone pillars that held some bodies. I came to a round open space and saw grander, more open tombs, some of which had light from which seemed like a fire. From far away I could tell Celeste was in the middle of the five so I started to walk up the path. As I came closer, I could hear another female’s hushed voice, so I waited behind the entrance for a bit.
“I’m just saying, if you won’t tell him, the least you could do is tell the girl,” the voice that I did not recognize said.
“Sophie, do not tell me what to do. Ariel will find out the truth eventually,” Celeste reprimanded. I was perplexed, what was I not being told? My eyes stinging with no tears left to cry and my breathing just getting back under control, I stepped into the room that was lit by a fireplace and candles placed randomly around the room.
“What truth?” I croaked. Celeste and a young woman with beautiful fair skin and chestnut brown hair turned to me in surprise.
“Ariel? What’s wrong? How did…Why are you here? How did you find me?” Celeste walked towards me.
“I, um, I ran away. Niklaus was…” I couldn’t bring myself to say it out loud, because once it was said, I knew it would be true. I didn’t want it to be true.
“He said he would not tell her where this is!” The woman glared at Celeste with her dark brown eyes that could have been mistaken for black.
“Niklaus didn’t tell me crap! I found it on my own,” I wiped my eyes with the neckline of my shirt.
“Sophie, can we have a few minutes alone,” Celeste politely asked, Sophie nodded and started to walk out when Celeste grabbed her by the arm and hissed, “And don’t you dare go to the Mikaelsons.”
Sophie scurried out and Celeste pulled out a chair for me to sit on. She pulled up another one and sat across from me, “Ariel, what did Klaus do? Are you okay?”
“It was Caroline. I thought…I thought he loved me. But…so I ran away. I told him that if he actually loved me that he would let me go,” I sniffled.
Celeste extended a hand and put it over my folded hands, “Ariel, you’ll be alright. I know Klaus may be a little impulsive at times,”
“A little?”
She sighed, “I get that you’re upset…”
“Try devastated, or heartbroken!” I was become more angry than sad.
“But, you need to realize, his intentions are not to hurt you. He told me that he wanted to be a better person just knowing you.”
“How can he, if he doesn’t even know who I am? I don’t even knowwho, or what, I am!”
Celeste ran her hands through her charcoal black hair, “Ariel, if I tell you the truth, you cannot tell Klaus, Okay?” I nodded to show I understood. She stared deep into my eyes, “What I told you before was mostly true. There is magic in you, but it’s not really a new bloodline. It’s odd, what I saw, the magic, it reminded me of the magic I see in the original vampire family. But you, you have vampire, witch, and werewolf in you. I don’t know how. I did see one thing. Mikael, he’s –”
“Niklaus and his siblings’ father. Well not Niklaus’,” I butted in
“Yes. He is also a vampire who kills vampires. That’s not even the strangest part. He was Esther, their mother. A human ancestor of yours showed great strength and will power. Some spell or something must have been passed onto you. I still don’t know much of it, but that is what I gathered from the flashes and images that you sent me through a block in your mind.”
I couldn’t respond for a few minutes, I didn’t know what to say. I broke eye contact with her, “Holy crap! But I never…I never showed any type of magic,”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what else there is to know,” She stood up.
I did the same, wiped my eyes with the back of my hand, and hugged Celeste, “Thank you. They are probably close to getting my location, so could you do me a favor and when they get here don’t say anything. Please don’t say where I am or where it looks like I’m headed.”
“You have my word.” She whispered and kissed the top of my head.
I headed out of the cemetery and continued down the street away from the Mikaelson house. After walking ten or fifteen minutes, I got the feeling that someone was lurking behind me. Paranoid, I kept looking over my shoulder. Is that…no it can’t be! I thought I saw glowing eyes, almost like Niklaus’ that night on the old road. No, you’re just upset, you’re just imagining things. That is a figment of your imagination in hope that Niklaus did not listen to you. Still, I speed up to a fast walk.
I felt a chill and a man, who looked about fifty, appeared in front of me.
“You must be Ariel,” he spoke in a hushed flowing English accent.
“I’m sorry, do I know you?” I stepped back, cautious of this tall, dark grey haired man.
“No, but I know you,” he smirked. His hold got tighter on me, as he spun me around and wrapped one arm around my throat.
“Please,” was the last thing I remembered before I thought I was as good as dead, the whole world around me went pitch black.
I woke up in a brick room that gave off a dungeon-ey vibe. I pushed the messed up hair out of my face with my hands that were zip tied together. I propped myself up into a sitting position, resting against the wall. My eyes were still adjusting to the bright light that shone like the sun into wherever I was. A loud clanging noise startled me as I dragged my feet closer to my body.
“It’s about time you woke up!” The man said, his eyes no longer glowing, but yet a natural blue grey color.
“Who…who are you?” I tried my best to not sound fearful.
“I can’t believe that bastard that calls me father never told you about me!” He laughed a maniacal laugh. I squinted, not quite processing what he was hinting at, “How’s Elijah? What about my daughter, Rebekah?” He said cynically to give me a better idea.
“Mikael!” I tried to sound intimidating and brave, but I barely managed to squeak out his name.
