Chapter 20 Showing Her Emotion

Elijah POV

Ariel's lips crashed into mine, forcing me to taste the alcohol in her breath and lips. Although I wanted to kiss her back. I pulled away trying to create space between us, "Ariel, please."

"But, I thought you liked me." She slurred.

"Niklaus is worried about you. What do you expect me to tell him? That I let you get drunk under my supervision?"

She closed the gap and walked her index finger and middle finger up my chest, "Well, what he doesn't know won't kill him."

"You need to stop this." I took her hand into my grasp. This was Ariel's body, but this wasn't her.

"If you're so jealous of me and your brother, why don't I show you what you've been missing out on?"

"My feelings do not matter right now. I am here because Niklaus is concerned. He loves you, Ariel. He just made a mistake. My brother has made many mistakes before."

"How can you stand up for him like this?" You know we had sex and now hate each other, but how can you find a justified reason for what he's done to me?"

"Love makes a person do incredibly stupid things. It's like a drug. And Niklaus is very complicated. I need to help and support the both of you."

"Why did you come here?"

"My brother wanted me to."

"No. You came because you are attracted to me. You would not have come if you did not like me. And I like you." Ariel closed the gap between us.

"That does not matter."

"Stop saying that!" She cried. All of a sudden, her face drained of color.

"Ariel? What is wrong?" I placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm going to be sick!" she sprinted into the bathroom to the toilet where she started retching and gagging. Reacting quickly, I ran to her so I could see what I could do to help. I knelt down on one knee and held her long blonde hair back, out of her face. A washcloth was lying at the edge of the sink, so I dampened it with cool water and gave it to Ariel to put on her forehead. After she stopped vomiting, I helped her up and poured mouth wash into a cup. She took it from me and rinsed her mouth out. I walked her back I to her room.

"Why did you do this to yourself?" I asked her.

"Because I wanted to feel better." Her eyes were daggers that pierced my heart.

"No. You wanted to get drunk."

"Well, I'm sorry if I don't have a humanity switch like you vampires do!"

"That is different. You can't control yourself while drunk and flip a humanity switch."

"But humanity switches are controllable? God! It's such a double standard! When your brother drinks, you don't bat an eye, but when I drink, you go batshit crazy and reprimand me!" There was fire in her emerald eyes.

"Niklaus knows how to control himself. You obviously need to learn how." I sighed at her.

"Jesus Christ! I knew goddamed well what I was doing! I wanted to get drunk!"

"Why would you want that?"

"Because! I wanted to feel numb! I was naïve and thought Niklaus loved me! I wasted my virginity on some phyco-vampire-hybrid killer! And in case you didn't notice, I killed my best friend last night!" She started shouting as tears rolled down her beautiful pale face and to the ground.

"You did not know what you were doing. You had no clue your blood would kill him." I tried to calm her.

"You and Klaus knew I was different and didn't tell me! I killed Ethan because of that! I didn't because you didn't tell me! I bet that you even knew he was down there! Didn't you? Didn't you!" Ariel sprang at me and tried to shove me around. The way she punched and shoved me told me that she was not angry at me, but upset and angry at herself.

I wrapped my arms around her in attempt to give her a hug and resting my chin on her head, I spoke into her blonde hair, "Sh, this is not your fault. This is not your fault, you hear?" Ariel collapsed into me, soaking my white dress shirt and mahogany tie with her tears. Gently, I brought her down to the ground and pet her soft hair, "Ariel, it is going to be alright. We will get Finn for what he did. Just please, please, do not blame yourself. You may not understand why my brother and I kept this a secret from you, but you will soon enough, and by then, you will wish you had not."

Ariel fell asleep in my arms while I consoled her, so I tucked her into bed and put a cup of ice water along with pain killers on the nightstand next to her bed. Once out of her room, I rang up Niklaus.

"Hello?"

"Niklaus, Ariel is fine, she just blames herself for what happened."

"She blames herself, and I blame myself while we should all be blaming Finn and our mother. Can I speak with her?"

"She is asleep at the moment, I will try to convince her to call you when she wakes up." I withheld the fact that she was like this from getting herself intoxicated.

"Elijah, tomorrow's the full moon."

"I'm aware of that brother." I made my way to my bedroom.

"Ariel might turn. You'll need to watch her closely and have her stay in the old Lockwood cellar." My brother instructed me.

"Alright, Niklaus."

"Thank you. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." I hung up the phone and took of my black dress coat, hanging it on the coat rack.

A/N

Hey everyone! Sorry for the hiatus! I was swamped with the end of the term and then the beginning of the new term rolled over. Not to mention I got myself a boyfriend, so I have been going on dates with him when I'd normally be updating. The next update will be soon. But not on Friday, my boy invited me to prom.

I hope you all understand. I am really really really sorry that I have been gone for so long.
