Chapter Thirty

I walk downstairs to find B and of course, I find him in the kitchen "hey" I press up on my toes and press a kiss against his lips for a minute "can I borrow your truck? I promised Ash that I would come by so we could catch up a little bit"

He pulls me back in for another kiss "sure baby girl be careful?" 

I grin up at him "always am"

I grab some coffee in a to-go thermos type cup scooping B's truck keys up off the key rack "I'll be back later"

"Alright and Kelsey Nicole I better not see a scratch on my truck when you get back or else" I bite my lip holding in a chuckle "I'm not going to scratch your truck B"

I hop up into the truck opening the garage door and backing out of the garage. The Gate at the end of the driveway opens and I back out of it hitting the road heading to Ash's.

I dial Ash's number I as drive down the road "hey Kels" 

"Did you get what I asked you to?" 

She chuckles "yeah sweetie I did.... Have you told B yet?" 

I shake my head "Not yet... I wanna be 100% sure before I mention it this time... It could just be a scare like last time and if that's all it is I don't wanna get his hopes up, so until I know without a shadow of a doubt I'm not saying anything to B about it" 

"Alright sweetie, we will know for sure once you get over here but exactly how late do you think you are?"

"A month and a half maybe 2 months"  

"Oh, sweetie I think it's really happening this time, uh when you had the scare you weren't that late were you?"

"No, I was only two weeks late then but please just keep your mouth shut about it until I know for sure... Not even Eli because he will tell B about it and like I said I don't want to get his hopes up and come on we've only been back together going on three months" 

"Uh, sweetie if you are 2 months late, then this had to have happened that night in Birmingham" I bite my lip pulling into her driveway "uh yeah that sounds about right then..... anyway I'm outside I just pulled up." I hang the phone up cutting the truck off and getting out sticking the keys in my pocket along with my phone.

Ash meets me at the door shoving the little brown bag into my hands "we have the house to ourselves until 2 that is when Eli is picking the kids up from mamas" I nod at her "okay well we should know by then if I am doing this right now" we walk into her and Eli's room. 

she nods shoving me into the bathroom in her and Eli's room "okay now you go and do your business and tell me if I'mma have a godchild or not yet" I roll my eyes at her "Jeez okay pushy I'm going" 

I close the door and open the boxes and I do as instructed. 

Once I finish I wash my hands and set my phone for 10 minutes. as that is the time it said to wait and I walk back into the room looking at Ash "10 minutes and we will know" 

we just sat around talking until I heard the ding on my phone "Damn slowest 10 minutes of my damn life" Ash rolls her eyes "well go and check" I shrug her off and walk into the bathroom with pretty shaky hands. I take a deep breath calming my nerves as I look at the two little sticks on the sink that both say the word pregnant. 

Oh my god, I just stare wide-eyed at the tests, I take another deep breath and try and school my face with a look of disappointment as I carry the tests out of the bathroom Ash looks up at me smiling then it falls as she notices my face "another scare?" I bite my lip trying to hold back the smile that wants to slip on my face "yeah" 

"Lemme see" I hand them over to her she looks down for a moment reads the test then looks back up at me "you little liar.... oh my god I'mma be a godmother" she pulls me into a hug "oh you gotta tell B now, that right there just confirmed it, without a shadow of a doubt" 

"Oh god.... what if he doesn't want this yet? I mean like I said it hasn't even been three months yet since we got back together" She grabs my shoulders "Kelsey sweetie B wanted this back when you had the scare, which is exactly why you didn't want to tell him unless you were sure about it and you guys were barely 21 then, he will want this no matter how long it has been since you got back together because he loves you and he will love that child no matter what" 

I smile pulling her into a hug "thank you, Ash, so much for everything, but I should go and figure out how to tell B about this on the way home"

Ash grins "what you should do is wrap the tests up in a box and leave it out where he will see it with his name on it and let him open it like it's a present..... I ever have another kid I'm so telling Eli like that" 

"you know what Ash? that is a very good idea"

She fake bows "thank you, thank you I'll be here all week" 

I roll my eyes "Bye Ash"

She grins at me "later Kels... lemme know how it goes with B"

I nod at her with a laugh "you know it" I walk back out to the truck my mind racing a million miles a minute as I get into the truck and backing out of the drive and head to the store to get a little box like Ash suggested.
