"The yule ball has been a tradition of the tri-wizard tournament since its inception. On Christmas eve night we and our guests gather in the great hall for well mannered frivolity. As representatives of the host school I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because the yule ball is first and foremost... a dance." McGonagall said.
All the boys who were actually listening groaned, and most of the girls looked more excited. I groaned like the guys. I was leaning against a wall, stood beside Hermione, with my arms crossed. I sighed.
"Silence. The house of Godric Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizard world for nearly ten centuries. I will not have you in the course of a single evening besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons." McGonagall said.
"Now to dance is to let the body breathe, inside every girl a secret swan slumbers longing to burst forth and take flight." McGonagall said, I smiled slightly.
"Yeah not in every girl." I said to myself, which was a bit to loud. My smile disappeared when I noticed people staring.
"Something's about to burst out of Hilary but I don't think it's a swan." I heard Ron said to Seamus. I rolled my eyes.
"Inside every boy a lordly lion prepared to prance. Mr. Weasley, will you join me, you too Miss. Jackson." McGonagall said. I just stood there, but Hermione pushed me, Ron had walked up slowly.
"Now, place your right hand on Catrina's waist." McGonagall said. My eyes widened.
"Where?" Ron asked. I took a step back.
"He is not touching me anywhere." I said. McGonagall gave me that you have no choice look, I rolled my eyes and grabbed Ron's right hand and put it on my waist. Someone wolf whistled, it was George, I gave him the 'I'll deal with you later.' look. He looked scared.
"Now bend your arm. Mr Filch." McGonagall said, the music started.
"One two three, one two three, one two three." McGonagall said and me and Ron.. 'danced'.
"Everybody come together." McGonagall said, Ron and I stopped. I walked to the side. I didn't want to dance. I don't like dancing at all.
"Boys, on your feet." McGonagall said, Neville stood. Then all the guys stood after him. I stayed at the side. McGonagall came to me.
"Go and get a partner, you need to learn. You don't want to look like a fool at the Yule Ball." McGonagall said, I sighed and walked to where everyone was dancing, Fred walked over to me.
"Do you wanna dance?" He asked.
"Yeah, sure before someone else asks me." I said, he grabbed my hand and put his hand on my waist, he put it a bit low so I wouldn't consider it my waist, I grabbed his hand and moved it to my actual waist.
"Sorry." He said, he looked a little embarrassed. We started dancing like everyone else.
"So, do you wanna go to the Yule Ball with me? As friends of course." Fred said. "I know with your oath and all it could get you kicked out."
"Are you a hundred percent sure it is only as friends." I said.
"I'm a hundred and one percent sure it's only as friends." Fred said.
"Alright then, I'll go with you to the Yule Ball." I said, Fred smiled. "I read up on the Triwizard tournament a few weeks back and it said that the champions had to dance at the Yule ball. I don't want to look like a fool, dancing with myself."
