Chapter 8 - Third Task

Catrina's POV.

A few weeks has passed since the second task, and today, the third task was going to take place. I was glad that we were finally going to get it over with. The actual task was going to be starting very soon.

I was stood with the other Champions in the arena, waiting for someone to tell us what we were going to have to do. The other day, Dumbledore called me to his office to talk to me. He told me that during the task, I would be allowed to bring my weapons with me, in case I needed to use them. I was glad of course. He said that I could only use them if absolutely necessary. But it made me feel safe, having them with me, so I was glad.

Quite a lot of people were here for me. Artemis was here with the Hunters. Apollo was here, as well as my father. And what surprised me most of all, was the fact the Zeus himself was here. I had a little chat with Apollo a few minutes ago, and he said that Zeus wanted to be here personally this time, instead of watching it from a screen in Mount Olympus with the other gods and goddesses.

The weapons I decided to take along with me, was my silver bow, which was a charm on my necklace, but would appear slung over my shoulder when I needed it. Then, I had my sword, which was in it's ring form. Finally, my poisoned dagger, which was in its sheath on my hip, which had it soaked on the poison. I also decided to take a canteen of water from the Black lake with me, just in case I needed it. I obviously had to take my wand with me as well, that was tucked into my sleeve.

"Earlier today Professor Moody placed the tri-wizards cup deep within the maze. Only he knows its exact position. Now as Miss.Jackson..." Dumbledore said, there were cheers from the huntress and some of the crowd as well. That made me smile. Dumbledore continued.

"and Mr.Potter tied for first position they will be the first to enter the maze. Followed by Mr.Diggory, Mr.Krum and Miss.Delacour. The first person to touch the cup will be the winner. I've instructed the staff to patrol the perimeter, if at any point should a contestant wish to withdraw from the task he or she need only send up red sparks with their wands. Contestants, gather round." Dumbledore said. Myself and the other contestants gathered around him.

"In the maze you'll find not dragons or creatures of the deep. Instead you'll face something more challenging. You see, people change in the maze. Oh find the cup if you can, but be very weary you could just lose yourselves along the way." He said.

"Champions! Prepare yourselves." Mad-Eye said. I walked to where my father, Zeus, Artemis and Apollo had been standing.

"Thank you all for coming. It means a lot to me, even though it may not seem like it." I said, my father hugged me, and then Artemis.

"We'll always be here to support you." My father said. I looked at Zeus.

"You surprised me with your presence here today, Lord Zeus." I said.

"Well I was curious to see how today would end. You must know that you should be prepared for anything tonight, for you it's life or death." Zeus said. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Zeus you didn't have to bring that up, you could have waited until after the tournament." My father said, beginning to getting a bit mad at Zeus.

"What do you mean?" I asked, worry in my voice.

"Get in your places Champions!" Mad-Eye yelled at us, it was directed more towards me.

"You should go, you don't want to forfeit when the task hasn't even begun." Zeus said, I obeyed and went to where I was suppose to be.

"On the count of three...One." Dumbledore said, the cannon went off immediately. Before entering the maze I looked back at them. I met Artemis' eyes, when she gave me a nod, I turned back around and then I ran in, grabbing my wand from my sleeve.
