After a short brief encounter with Luca Brasi, Tom went out to the garden to search for Sonny. "Did you see Sonny around?" He asked Michael but he shook his head. Tom knew he was screwing around with the maid of honor. He cursed to himself before he left. After he disappeared Kay asked who he was. "That's Tom. He's lived with us since he was twelve. His parents died and he was a lost child roaming around the streets with a bad eye infection. Sonny brought him home one night and he stayed. He didn't have any place to go so he lived with us until he got married." Michael said trying to not make it a big deal.
Kay looked thrilled of course. "That's really romantic." She said, "Your father must be a warm hearted person." She smiles at the thought of his father taking in a lost little boy. "Michael? Who was that girl we just met? Y'know the one with the pretty dress and dark hair. Who is she?" She asked, curious to find out more about her.
Michael thought about it for a second before remembering which girl she was talking about. "Elena? She's from Mexico from what I know. My father was good friends with hers. Almost like brothers." He paused afterwards not really liking to expose Elena's family much, "Nobody knows what happened to her parents. So my father took her and her only family left." Michael lied. He knew why she was staying here. Well part of it. His father told him about her loss of family and how she lost them. He didn't feel the need the tell Kay about her story knowing deeply well that was Elena's privacy.
Michael looked around the party only to have his eyes set on the young brunette talking to Sonny's wife Sandra, with little Alejandro sitting on her lap. There was something about her he couldn't put his finger on. Yes, he will admit, he did find her attractive but that's not what pulled her to him. Something lured him to find out more about her.
"Mikey!" Michael pulled his thoughts away from her and turned to look at his brother Fredo.
"Fredo! How are ya, Fredo?" Michael smiled at his brother as Fredo put both his arms around him and Kay.
"Kay, this is Fredo my brother." Michael introduced. Michael slightly wrapped his arm around Fredo for support. Anyone from a mile away can guess Fredo was drunk.
Fredo looked at Kay and immediately got in her face, "How are ya doing?" His words slurred as he kissed Kay's cheek.
"Say Michael," Fredo looked at his brother and raised both of his eyebrows. Or tried to. Right now it looked like one eye was bigger than the other. "Have you seen El? My god that woman has some pouty lips!" Fredo neared his brother closer trying to be more discreet in front of his girlfriend, "I could think of a few things those lips could do." He wiggled his eyebrows.
Michael's smile dropped as he looked at him with disgust. How could he say that? The young woman who has been nothing more than a close sister to them was being lusted after his brothers. Michael now wondered if this is what Elena had dealt with while he was gone. Were his brothers this horny that they forgotten the amount of teasing and comments they've given her over the years?
"Fredo?" He looked at Michael and was surprised to see a solemn look on his face. Even his eyes held a dangerous look that could make anyone feel uncomfortable, "Don't ever say that again, alright?"
Fredo nodded looking guilty. Michael lightly patted his brothers back knowing he was not in the right state of mind. But it still bothered Michael hearing Fredo talk about Elena like that. Beauty can blind others, and it can make people unaware of their behavior around them.
