Epilogue

I married Dallas. The wedding was simple and absolutely beautiful. Austin was my maid of honor. Jenny and my aunt were my bridesmaids. They all wore blue in honor of my mother's favorite color. Johnny was Dally's best man. The others argued who got to walk me down the isle, so I told them none of them would. I called Bodhi. My wedding was the last time I ever saw him. He hugged me, and told me congratulations. He left a gift, however he said he had it shipped to Dally and I's house because it was too big. It was my surf board. On the board he wrote:

You have found your eternal ocean baby girl. Maybe I'll find mine. Stay free and take lots of pictures. Love you always.

He left a mailing address. We've sent letters every once in a while. He's doing well. Never did settle down. He was too wild and free to be tied down. He was meant to be with the ocean and nothing more. I admired that about him.

Sandy came back a year later. She had grown up and so had Soda. They ended up getting married and she even asked me to be her maid of honor. It was strange seeing Soda marry another girl, but I was happy. Because I knew she truly loved him. And he loved her.

Darry married only six months after Dally and I did. He married Jenny. They really hit it off at our wedding. They had a daughter named Ariel. She looked like Jenny, but she had Darry's eyes.

As insane as it may sound, Two-bit also found love. With Austin. Dallas and the other boys weren't too happy when we all found out but Two-bit promised he was insanely in love with her. And he fulfilled his promise. They got married and had twins. A boy and a girl. Turns out twins are genetic. They named the boy Dallas and the girl Austin. Very original.

Steve opened his own car shop. He called it Randle's Body Shop and ended up making a ton of money. The shop then became a chain and after a while, Steve was one of the wealthiest individuals to ever come from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He never married.

Ponyboy became an author. He married a girl named Delilah Forbes three years after they met. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Samantha and then had a boy two years later. His name is Sodapop.

Johnny decided to go into the army. He mails us regularly and comes to see us whenever possible. He does real well there and he promises he enjoys it. He writes Dally every Monday at the first of the month. Dally always writes back. I know they miss each other, but they are both happy.

As for us, we're all good. I found a home here in Tulsa Oklahoma, and I owe it all to Sodapop. He saved me from running from myself and he saved me from running from love. I found it, all of it. And now I sit here next to the love of my life Dallas Winston and I am truly content. We had two boys. Our first son we named Tommy, after my little brother. And the second we named Bodhi. Tommy is athletic and looks more like Darrel than either of us. Bodhi is a little beach bum like his mother. We live in Tulsa still, but take yearly trips to California to see my aunt. She's doing very well. She also receives letters time to time from Bodhi. Dally actually enjoys the ocean more than he says. I know it deep down. By the way, I ended up winning an award and a huge scholarship for my photograph of Dallas. Turns out, people say if you look close you can see two figures of what looks like ghosts. It's Ariel and I. I never told anyone. But I look at that picture and I remember the time warp that now feels like a dream. Nobody knows how the picture captured the "mysterious ghosts." Not even Dally. Only Ariel and I. It's our secret.

And that's my life.

It's a pretty good one. And it all started with a camera. And an empty tank of gas.
