Jihyun
(This is Jiyeon's mom just in case ya'll forgot her real name)Leaning back in the driver's seat, I relaxed back into the parked car as I tied to mentally prepare myself for what's to come. Hyunki put his hand to my shoulder, caressing it soothingly. (Hyunki is her husband if you didn't remember)
"You got this."
"I hope so." I pinched the bridge of my nose, leaning forward towards the steering wheel once again.
Hyunki turned back, gazing towards the backseat. There sat Seunghee, sleeping with sweet child-like snores. Drool glazed her lips as she slumped against her seatbelt, her mouth gaping open as gravity drooped her bottom lip downwards. The peacefulness in her slumber was enough to warm my heart.
"I'll be back soon, hold down the fort." I opened the car door before Hyunki pulled me back in.
"That reminds me, Seunghee wants to make a pillow fort when we get back to the hotel."
I chuckled softly. "Got it, we're making another Baek Castle." I mocked, mimicking my daughters distant words. "Bye." I began to ease out the car before being pulled back once more.
"Kiss?" Hyunki gleamed childishly, not letting me out of his sights until I pecked his lips, so I did just as asked before finally escaping the car.
The driveway and house dully welcomed me once again. Trekking up the driveway and to the front door, I rung the doorbell, waiting patiently. It wasn't long before the familiar face opened the door. The father to three of my children, and the once love of my life... Lim Daejung.
"Jihyun, you're early."
I peeked behind him into the home. "Is your wife home?"
"No, not today." He stood nonchalantly for a few moments, finally realizing his lack of manners. "Sorry, please come in." Daejung pulled the door back, allowing me to step inside.
I basked in the warmth of the home, finding it more welcoming on the inside. Daejung lead me to the dinning room, pulling out a chair for me to sit in.
"Would you like some tea?"
I nodded, trying to make my presence lighter in front of my ex-husband.
"So.." He fled to the kitchen, bringing out a kettle from the fridge. It was filled with a brown liquid. As he toppled it over, the iced tea trickled into the already set cup, as if he planned this ahead of time. He picked up the navy blue mug, bringing it over towards the table, setting it down right in front of me. "What brings you here?" He finally finished, seating himself next to me while still managing to keep his distance.
My finger scribbled anxious circles on the rim of the mug. I picked up the cup, tipping it to take a sip. "I wanted to talk about Karin."
His face retorted into visible disbelief. "Really?"
"Yes." I sent the mug back down, trying to slow my pace instead of impatiently screaming out that bitch Karin put her hands on my children! Yeah. it wouldn't be smart of me to do that, even though I kinda want to. "I want to know how your relationship with her is going?" I made sure to smile sweetly, fulfilling that habit of asking someone a thoughtful question before revealing any kind of news to them.
He was clearly taken back by that question, running his had through his black, graying hair. "I'm not sure why you asked. Me and Karin are fine, she really helps out around here."
"That's not what I asked, Daejung." His eye narrowed at me, up holding the silence I could only return back. I cleared my throat, testifying in disruption, "Do you love her? How does she treat you? Can you see yourself spending the rest of your life with her?"
