Chapter 15 | SERA

I close my eyes while I lay on Seunghee's bed, letting the ballad song she's currently playing on speaker fill my ears, but all I could hear is Hyunsik.

"I love you, anyway."

My heart doubles its pace.

"Come home, Sera. I miss you."

My heart feels like it might explode.

"Maybe I should give him another chance." I tell Seunghee as I sit up.

She gives me a look. The look she makes when she's so done with something. She sets her book aside. "Are you sure? I just don't want you getting hurt over and over."

"What if he means it?"

"What?"

"He told me he loves me."

Seunghee's face softens. "Oh, Sera."

"What if we can still fix this?"

Seunghee sighs, but smiles anyway. "Okay, go get your man. If anything goes wrong, you can always come back here, alright?"

I grin. "Okay." I say. "Okay." I repeat.

And then I borrow her car and drive back home, heart racing inside my chest.

I stand outside our door, holding the keys. I take a deep, deep breath. Jeez. Why am I so easily swayed? How many times could he still break me until enough is enough?

I hesitate while my head and my heart argue.

"Give him another chance." My heart says.

My head seems to sigh. "Go ahead, then. Let's see how this ends, so I can tell you 'I told you so'."

As much as Hyunsik gave up on me, maybe at some point I did too. Maybe I even gave up on myself. Maybe this is something we can still fix, if we're both fighting for each other and not with each other.

I take another deep breath and my finger almost presses the first digit of the pin when the door opens. My eyes immediately catch the pair of shoes on the pavement, standing in front of me.

I freeze. Time stops.

"Sera..." Hyunsik calls.

My eyes are glued to the woman's pink stilettos. A single silent chuckle escapes my throat before I look up and my heart breaks again.

Hyeri.

"Yoon Sera," she says, those eyes dazzle as they look at me.

I can't handle her dazzle right now.

"I'm just gonna take some clothes." I say before walking past them. I feel dizzy. Oh my god.

"Wait, Sera-"

I grab my luggage, feeling like everything sways just a bit. I grab my work clothes and some more clothes. Anything that fits in the luggage.

Hyunsik appears by the door. "Sera, it's not what you think."
