Chapter 8

Cass' Pov:

''That was great, thank you for taking me out today Ianto.'' I smiled at him and he just smiled back.

''No problem Cass, you're part of the team now. And if you're part of the team, you're part of the family.'' I grinned at what Ianto said, I was so lucky to have them in my life. Ianto's phone buzzed and he took it out from his pocket to check it, then he looked at me.

''What's up?''

''Oh, it's just Jack, wanting to know if you're okay with pizza for dinner?''

''Yeah, I guess. But tomorrow he better get something else, cuz I'm not having pizza 4 days in a row.'' I laughed a bit and so did Ianto before he texted Jack back.

When we got back to the HUB everyone was there doing what they usually did. Tosh was doing some tracking, Gwen was talking with Jack about gods know what. And Owen was in his lab, but came up into the main area and over to me.
"Hey Owen, what's up?"
"Hey Cass, I would like to do a full medical checkup. If that's okay?"
"Yeah, I guess. Does Jack know?" I started to get a bit nervous, nobody was supposed to know about me being Time-lord.
"All workers at Torchwood need this check up, it's obligatory. So I guess he knows, but go tell him and come down to the lab. Okay?" I nodded slowly and he walked down to the lab, and I walked over to Jack and Gwen.
"Jack? Can I talk with you for a sec? Alone?" I looked at him and he nodded before turning to Gwen.
"Go down to the Sontaran, and I will meet you there. Don't start interrogating him until I get there." She nodded in response and walked down to the cells.
"What is it??" He looked at me with curiosity and I hesitated a bit before answering.
"Owen wants to do a full medical checkup on me, what should I do? If he does the checkup he will find out that I'm not human!" I was starting to freak out, but Jack just looked at me and engulfed me in a hug before answering.
"Don't worry, Owen can keep a secret. And it's better that he knows." I pulled away from the hug and stared at him in disbelief.
"I mean, if you were to get an injury, it would be nice to know that he can treat you without any problems." He had a point, but I wasn't convinced just yet.
"But how do I tell him? I mean, 'hey Owen I'm ready for the checkup, oh I'm an alien by the way and I've got two hearts'. I can't say that, I'd sound like a lunatic!" I exclaimed and threw my hands up for emphasis.
"Just go down there and try to explain it to him, and one more thing..." I looked at him.
"He will understand, I promise," He smiles at me before walking down to interrogate the sontaran with Gwen.
I sighed, turned and walked down to the lab/medical area.
"Are you ready?" He must've seen my nervous look, because he came over to me and spoke in a hushed tone.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, it's just..."
"You can tell me, I won't tell. I promise."
"When you do the check up... You will find something... different. I'm not like everybody else." I started and looked at Owen to see his face expressions.
"Considering that you are Jack's niece, I didn't expect you to be normal." He states and urged me to continue to explain with his hands.
"Well, I-I'm not..."
"Not what?"
"I'm not human." I whispered as quietly as I could. I looked down to my feet, not wanting to look him in his eyes. He put a hand under my chin and made me look at him.
"Thank you for telling me, and not letting me find out during the checkup." He laughed a bit, making me giggle a bit.
"But why not tell us all? No one would Cast you out of Torchwood."
"Because, the fewer that knows the better. And my people have a lot of enemies, and if you don't know what I am, you would be safer from them."
"Then I won't tell anyone, but I would like to know, considering that I'm the medic and I need to know so I can treat you properly if you get hurt." Jack was right, Owen took it very calmly and I feel like I can trust him.
"Well, I'm a Time-lord or Time-lady from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous, I am 399 years old and I have two hearts. Oh, and I'm not really Jack's niece, but we figured it was less suspicious if we pretended that I was." I blurted out and looking at him cautiously.
"Okay... that was a lot to take in at once." He stood there for few seconds before speaking again.
"Well, if you could sit down here" he gestured to the chair/bed thingy in the middle of the room. "And I will start with taking a blood test, then I will check your heart, no hearts, and so fourth." He smiled and I did as he said.
I flinched a bit when the needle pierced my skin, Owen seemed to notice as he started asking me questions.
"So, what is Gallifrey like?"
"It's breathtaking, when the suns set over the citadel and Arcadia."
"And I'm done." Owen said as he put a bandaid over my elbow, and found his stethoscope.
"Already?"
"Yep, taking a blood sample is a quick proses if the patient is calm. And making you talk about home made you calm." He smiled and I smiled back.
"Could you take off your shirt please?"
"What?" I stared at him in disbelief.
"For checking your heartbeats, it's easier when the shirt is out of the way. If you don't have a sports bra on I suggest that you change into one." I was in fact wearing a sports bra, so I pulled off my shirt and sat back down in the chair. And he put the. Stethoscope on my chest and checked both my hearts.
"The both sound normal, so I guess that's good. You may put your shirt back on now." I did as I was told and put my shirt back on.
"We're done here now, you don't need to be her for the blood test." He smiled at me.
"If it's okay with you, I would like to stay and watch." I said looking at him with a smile.
"Yeah sure, it's nice with some company." He smiled back, before starting on the test while I watched him work. He was so focused on what he was doing, and the look his face was so handsome when he worked. Wait, what? Did I just think that? Do I have feelings for Owen? So many questions ran through my mind.
"Do I have something in my teeth?" Owen's voice snapped me back out of my thoughts.
"Uh no, I was just thinking." I tried to sound calm, but in reality I had butterflies in my stomach and felt weak. He smiled at me in response and I smiled back. He has the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Stop it! I mentally slapped myself back to reality and excused myself and left. Did I really have feelings for him? Yes. Did he have feelings for me? Probably not. And we could never happen, no matter how much I like him he likes Tosh. I walked to my room to relax before dinner, and ended up falling asleep.

Owen's POV:
I had just finished testing her blood when I caught her looking at me.
"Do I have something in my teeth?" I asked, mostly as a joke.
"Uh no, I was just thinking." She said with a calm voice, and I smiled at her in return. She smiled back before excusing herself and left.
Wow, her smile is enough to make anyone get in a great mood. I knew I liked her, I liked her a lot, I have ever since I caught her dancing in the kitchen. But she was Jacks niece, so I couldn't let my feelings continue. What would he say, he has been so overprotective over her. But now that I know she really isn't his niece, I decided to let my feelings continue. And hopefully she feels the same for me as I do for her.
