Down The Block (EddMatt)

Good ending (read the rest of the story first.)

        "What...?" They heard a very familiar voice only a few steps away. Edd turned to see Matt standing there holding a daisy and a tiny card along with it, his eyes were filling up with tears.

"M-Matt, I... I thought you were going to be a few minutes." It was then that Edd remembered how he slowed down when talking to Eduardo, Matt heard only the end of their conversation, when Eduardo yelled..

"Oh, so you decide to talk about me when I'm not around?!" Matt whimpered holding back tears. "I... I loved you..." Matt dropped the daisy and card before running off.

"MATT!!" Edd screamed beginning to freak out, without even looking at Eduardo he grabbed the daisy and card before chasing after Matt.   

             Edd used all of his energy to be as fast as Matt was, and was actually catching up. Matt turned on to a street that was long and strait, when Edd turned the corner what he saw made his blood go cold.

                There was Matt slowing his pace in the middle of the road. Around this time of day barely any cars drove by but there, a few feet away from Matt was a car. Matt wasn't moving off the road.

Edd ran as fast as he could. The car lights blared onto Matt's face.

His heart pounding. Why wasn't the car slowing down?

Not ready to lose the person he truly loved.

He was fast enough.

               Edd dove and used all of his strength to get himself and Matt out of the way of the car. Edd flipped Matt onto his back so they could both see each other, and Edd hugged him beginning to sob. 

               "E-Edd? Why did you.... What do you want?" Matt mumbled as tears began flowing down his cheeks.

               "Matt please, you need to understand that Eduardo did only get me to meet you to humiliate you but please Matt... I... I really fell in love with you, I love you..." Edd gave Matt a weak smile.

               "You promise... You're not just messing with me.." Matt looked a little angry still crying.

         Edd leaned in and kissed Matt it was quick but full of love. "I promise." Edd smiled wiping Matt's tears away with his thumb. Matt giggled a little and hugged Edd. 

               "Is that why you've been so nervous lately?" Matt frowned, "Eduardo hasn't been hurting you has he?"  Edd nodded but explained that it was only a few shoves here and there and sometimes a little worse. "I promise I won't ever let him hurt you again.. Okay?" Matt looked in the eye. Edd nodded. Edd looked down at the card Matt dropped and opened it up. Two red yarn bracelets fell out and Edd read the message.

                  My dearest Eddie. I don't even know what to say, I love you more then anything else in the world. I'll probably say that before I give you the card because it might be more romantic that way, I don't know. Either way, I know I've only known you for a little less then a year but I already know that... You might be the one. I already know that you're the person I want to marry someday. I would love to say these words out of my own mouth but I'd stutter and then say the wrong thing. Anyways, we're too young for me to give you a promise ring buy maybe you'll except this promise ring promise bracelet?? I don't know what to call it... But I do know that I want to give you a promise ring as soon as we're old enough. I love you Eddie, I would give you the world if I could. So that's this part of the world I picked for you! A daisy! I want to spend the rest of my life with you Edd, I hope you feel the same towards me too.

                        Edd looked up from the card to see Matt avoiding eye contact as his cheeks slowly grew red. Edd placed his hand on Matt's cheek and turned his head to looked at him. Edd gazed for a moment into his adorable light blue eyes as he kissed Matt in the cheek then smiled. 

                     "Matt I feel the same way, I'd love to spend the rest of my life with you too." As soon as those words slipped out of Edd mouth, Matt's eyes lit up like fireworks. He began crying with joy as he hugged Edd and nuzzled his neck. 

                      After no luck in finding Eduardo the two walked in the the school theatre holding hands, on both of their wrists were the red yarn bracelets. They sat next to each other and actually ran into Tom Mark and Tord there. The five of them enjoyed the performance and met Jon backstage once the theatre was empty. They went back stage to see Jon saying by to another one of the actors as the unknown friend of Jon's walked off.  

                     "Jon that was amazing!" Mark cheered, as he ran over and hugged the smaller boy, "I didn't know you were such a good singer!" 

                    "Thank you, but I feel like a few other people were better." Jon smiled giggling.

                    "Nonsense." Tom blurted, "You were amazing."

                    "We should go out for dinner!" Tord suggested, "To Y'know celebrate?" Tord awkwardly smiled as he slowly got quieter.

                    "That sounds like a great idea!" Matt gasped, "Come on let's go!" 

                    The six of them all went in to a pizza shop only a few blocks away from the school. They all sat at a booth and had a great time. Both of Matt's hands were on the table, and Edd slowly slid his hand across the table to hold Matt's hand. Once Edd did so Matt looked over at Edd then smiled.

                     Skip to a few hours later, Edd walked through the door holding the card and daisy Matt gave him. He saw his aunt and Uncle sitting at the table discussing something. Edd smiled at them as he grabbed a tiny cup and put water in then the daisy.  "Where's Eduardo?" Edd looked st his Aunt who simply sighed in response before she spoke. 

                    "You're cousin explained what happens and how he's been shoving you over recently. I appreciated his honesty but he's grounded for a few months." She rolled her eyes. "Did you have fun with Matt sweetie?"

                     "Yeah." Edd smiled blushing a bit as he walked off to his room. He completely avoided Eduardo's room, and once he was inside his own room he shut the door. Edd placed the little cup with the daisy in it on his window ledge, and leaned the card against the cup. Edd gazed out his window to still see Mark and Matt walking inside their house. Edd blushed a little, very exited to see Matt tomorrow and he spent the rest of the evening texting Matt.
