Down The Block (EddMatt)

Not fast enough.

                From Winter to Spring, it all went by so fast. Edd and Matt began to spend every day together. After the Halloween dance Eduardo began to leave Mark and Jon alone. Also, Tom and Tord have only gotten closer overtime. Everything seemed perfect. But something still wasn't right. Edd still was dealing with Eduardo asking for Edd to tell him what happened at Matt's old school. He still wanted to humiliate him. Everyday it began to get worse. It started with a bit of a rude ask, but now it was beginning to become a hard shove to the ground if Edd hadn't figured it out yet. Although Edd did know, he would rather go through pain then put all of that onto Matt. Edd tried his hardest all the time to not let that little smile fade away. Edd loved Matt more then anything or anyone, he would not let Eduardo get in the way of him and Matt.

              "I won't do it." Edd mumbled under his breath, it was close to the end of the year and he was going to meet Matt at the end of the street so they could go see the school play. Edd's aunt convinced Eduardo to go with Edd due to her not wanting Edd to be alone. "I'm not gonna let you humiliate Matt like that, I don't deserve it."  Edd was standing in the mirror practicing on what to say to Eduardo. He got a text from Matt.

      {Matt}                                                                                        {Edd}

     'Hey Eddie!'

                                                                                                        'Hi cutie!' 

     'You can head to the end of the street if 

      you want, I'll be there in a few minutes!'

                                                                                                        'Sounds good! See you soon!~ ;3'

               Edd turned off his phone and put it in his hoodie pocket. He walked down the creaky old stairs that he didn't even notice at this point. He smiled at his aunt not saying too much, very exited to wait and see Matt running down the sidewalk to meet him and the street sign. Edd walked out the door while Eduardo slumped after him not too far behind Edd. 

              They walked down the smooth sidewalk where all the cracks in the cement had been repaired. A few daisys stuck out around the side of the sidewalk and were fully bloomed. Edd decided to take a deep breath and finally tell Eduardo what was going on.

             "Eduardo?" Edd turned to the taller teen, both of them still walking down the sidewalk but slowing down a bit. "I've kinda been meaning to tell you something?" Eduardo simply looked at him in response. "I..... I won't do it... I won't help you humiliate Matt."  They both fell dead silent as they continued to get closer to the street sign. 

             "Edd... You better tell me that you're joking." Eduardo growled as they began to only be a few feet away from the street sign.  "BECAUSE IT WAS YOU, WHO AGREED TO BEFRIEND MATT ONLY TO HUMILIATE HIM!!!" 

             "What...?" They heard a very familiar voice only a few steps away. Edd turned to see Matt standing there holding a daisy and a tiny card along with it, his eyes were filling up with tears.

             "M-Matt, I... I thought you were going to be a few minutes." It was then that Edd remembered how he slowed down when talking to Eduardo, Matt heard only the end of their conversation, when Eduardo yelled..

             "Oh, so you decide to talk about me when I'm not around?!" Matt whimpered holding back tears. "I... I loved you..." Matt dropped the daisy and card before running off.

             "MATT!!" Edd screamed beginning to freak out, without even looking at Eduardo he grabbed the daisy and card before chasing after Matt.  

             Edd ran as fast as he could after Matt who was running a lot faster then he was. Matt was a good two streets away from Edd as they continued to run. Edd finally thought he would be able to catch up then Matt turned off onto a long strait street with not turns, but when Edd caught up to see how much farther Matt got ahead he felt his blood go cold.

            There was Matt slowing his pace in the middle of the road. Around this time of day barely any cars drove by but there, a few feet away from Matt was a car. Matt wasn't moving off the road.

          Edd ran as fast as he could. The light blared onto Matt's face.

          His heart pounding. Why wasn't the car slowing down?

          Not ready to lose the person he truly loved.  

             But he wasn't fast enough.

           Edd practically had a heart attack when he saw the car drive right over Matt and simply keep going, he began to cry when he saw his insides be crushed in one second. Edd dashed over to the bleeding body and held Matt in his arms. 

           "Matt? MATT PLEASE BE OKAY!! Matt I didn't want to hurt you I swear I didn't tell him anything!!!"  Edd began to sob violently.

           "r....really?...." Tears ran down Matt's cheeks, "i guess i should've listened to you huh?" Matt have a small weak giggle.

           "I-I don't care about the past I just want you to be okay!!!" Edd wept beginning to hyperventilate.

           "edd... i love you more then anything else in the world..." Matt smiled weakly.

           "I..I love you too..." Edd smiled smelly back, thinking that maybe everything would be okay.

           "edd can you do me a favour?" Matt mumbled sounding more weak. "i want you to keep everyone together, and to stay friends with everyone....."

           "I...I will Matt..Matt?..." Edd looked down at those beautiful sky eyes, and noticed the life slowly drain out of them, and his little smile slowly began to fade... 

           "M-Matt?....no...nonoNoNoNoNONONO- Matt please!!!" Edd began to scream in horror. "Matt please wake up, please!! Please tell me I'm dreaming, tell me this isn't real!!" 

  

          Edd remembered the little card, he opened it up to find a message inside, along with a red yarn bracelet.

         

                   My dearest Eddie. I don't even know what to say, I love you more then anything else in the world.  I'll probably say that before I give you the card because it might be more romantic that way I don't know. Either way, I know I haven't known you for more then a year but I already know that...You might be the one. I already know that you're the person I want to marry one day. I would love to say these words out my own mouth but I'd stutter and then say the wrong thing. Either way, we're to young for me to give you a promise ring but maybe you'll except this promise ring promise bracelet?? I don't know what to call it... But  I do know that I want to give you a promise ring as soon as we're old enough. I love you Eddie, I would give you the world if I could. So take this part of the world I picked for you! A daisy!  I want to spend the rest of my life with you Edd, I hope you feel the same towards me too.
