Thomas POV.
It was Friday afternoon, a few days after the Lacrosse game, when I realised, I hadn't taken Newt on that date yet. It was this realisation that led me to now, where I'm sitting at the back of my classroom frantically searching google maps for a place to take him after school. I eventually found a nice looking, small coffee shop just a bit out of town, meaning it would be about a 15 minute walk, but that's fine. I don't mind, and I doubt he would too. The shop is also far enough away that not many people we know would be likely to go there, but close enough that we wont have to walk for too long. I make up my plan as to how to ask Newtie while the lesson drags on for what seems like forever. As soon as the bell rings I jump up out of my seat, practically sprinting to where I remember Newt's locker is. I lean on it casually as the angel himself comes into view. On this particular day, my lovely boyfriend is wearing his usual hoodie with a pair of ripped jeans. His darkly beautiful eyes land on me, only to roll playfully. He smiles as he looks at me expectantly.
"Can I take you on that date today?" I ask in a hushed voice, causing Newtie to flush light pink.
"How the bloody hell do you expect me to be able to leave with all these books?" Newt says softly, smirking at me when I fumble to get out of the way of his locker. He hastily opens it, dumping his books haphazardly and grabbing his bag, shutting the locker. We walk down the hall close by one another, ignoring the judging stares of both Brenda, then Alby further down the hallway. He had his arm slung over Teresa's shoulders in a seemingly dominant, controlling manner. I smiled, relieved, when we left the school gates. We headed in the direction google told me the shop was, holding hands as soon as school was out of sight.
"Hey Tommy... Just to make sure, you're my boyfriend, right? This isn't just an... I don't know, one off thing..." Newt asked cautiously, staring at me out of the corner of his eye, his bottom lip caught between his teeth.
"Of-fucking-course I'm your boyfriend! And you're mine, seeing as that's kind of how it works." I smile as Newt grinned lovingly at the word boyfriend.
"Boyfriend... I love the sound of that..." Newt smiled, pulling himself closer to me, hugging my arm as we walked, making me smile wider. Something about Newt makes me feel completely happy in the most inexplainable way.
"I love the sound of it too. And, if it's ok with you, I was wondering if I might, maybe, possibly be able to tell people?" I ask, blushing a bit at how difficult that was to ask. Newt looks shocked for a moment, before he thinks for a moment, a small crease forming between his eyebrows.
"I don't really mind, but maybe only tell a few people? I just don't feel too comfortable coming out to the whole school yet." Newt replied with a small laugh.
"Wait, 'coming out'?" I ask shyly, a single question on my mind.
"Yep. You're my first boyfriend Tommy. And I'm honestly completely elated that it's you." Newt made me feel special, like I'm the only person in the whole wide world.
"Can I tell Teresa?" I ask.
"Only if I can tell Min."
"Deal."
"So, care to tell me where we're going?"
"A small coffee shop I found recently. It looks pretty good." I don't mention my frantic consultation of the mighty google, for I would sound desperate and therefore uncool. As we round the corner the shop comes into view. A bell jingles as we enter, a nice looking cashier glancing in our direction. The shop looked mostly empty, the design predominantly dark wood, with brightly coloured tables and booths. Newt looked around in awe, clearly loving my choice in location.
