Thomas POV.
Malia decided to stay in the car while Newtie and I went looking for stuff for Teri. We went and bought him a bunch of new clothes first, all in his style and fit. Newt also bought a few things, though he refused to tell me what. I gave up asking after a while, grumbling and telling him to 'keep his damn secrets'. He chuckled and rested his arm over my shoulders, pulling me close and kissing my cheek. I blushed but still slapped his shoulder. Our next stop was one we both were kind of embarrassed about. The store was one that sold women's stuff... more specifically bras... I knew what we needed, but this was still going to be so awkward... I walk up to the counter while Newt stays at the entrance, saying that Teri's my twin and therefore this is my job. I sigh as I look at the store clerks. Both were girls, one with pink dyed hair and was chewing gum and the other had red hair and piercing blue eyes.
"Hello, how can I help you?" The red head asked, leaning against the counter with her elbows. She glanced back at Newt, then to me... she probably had the wrong idea or something already.
"Um... I was wondering if you had this thing I'm looking for..." I trailed off, realising I didn't remember what it was called. Both girls stared at me, prompting me to continue. "It, um... presses down on your, um... a girl's chest... to hide their, um, you know... um..." I made a hand indication to my chest, meaning boobs. I heard a short laugh from the entry way and glared at my boyfriend, who was putting in ear phones and leaning against a wall.
"Sir, you'll need to explain what you need better." The girl spoke, eyebrows raised in amusement at my confusion. With a deep breath, I try again.
"Girls who are boys on the inside use them to try help them be a boy on the outside as well." I say, realising that probably also made very little sense. However, the pink haired girl seems to realise what I'm talking about.
"A chest binder?" She says in a surprisingly soft voice.
"Yes! One of those!" I yell, glad I finally got it.
"Now, sir, I'm no expert, but I don't really think they need one." The red head says as she points to Newt. This makes me burst into loud, almost humiliating laughter. The clerks look at me like I'm crazy, but I cant help it.
"He's... my boyfriend... I'm buying... the binder for. My sister who is now... my brother." I'm gasping for breath as I try to speak, still laughing. Newt looks over and tilts his head in a silent question, making me double over in laughter. The red head looks mortified, while the pink haired one joins me in laughter, but more subdued to my mild hysterical laughter.
"I am so sorry for the misunderstanding." The red head said sincerely as I began to calm down.
"Hey, 's all good, I needed a good laugh." I smile at her, and she visibly relaxes. Her eyebrows then furrow again.
"Unfortunately I don't believe we have any more left in stock... but I do know a place that should..." The red head writes down an address for me. I thank her quickly as I run over to Newt, who takes out his music and extends a hand for me to hold. It turned out that the store we were directed to wasn't that far away... tough we still checked we had the right address several times before looking at each other in mild mortification.
"No way! Are you fuckin' kidding me right now!" I yell as I stare at the kink store... aka our destination. Newt looked just as dumbfounded as me.
"Are we even allowed inside?" Newt asks with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well... only one way to find out." I sigh as I take Newt's hand and drag him inside, his protests immediately halting as we go inside. I have honestly never felt more uncomfortable in my whole life, and it seemed that Newt felt the same. There was so much leather and related... things that I stared intently at the ground as I blush covered my face. "For Teri." I mumble as I drag Newt to the counter. The man behind it was definitely not wearing enough clothes, so I stared him dead in the eye for fear of being scared for life.
"Afternoon, how can I help the two of you?" The man's eyes narrowed as he gave us a suggestive glance that caused my hand to tighten around Newt's. He squeezed it back reassuringly as he stared at a spot on the ground.
"Hello, were looking for a binder, a good one that wont hurt." I say as calmly as possible, still only really looking at his eyes or face. He nodded once, typing up something on his computer.
"Sure thing, though doesn't really look like he needs it." The man indicated to Newt, and for the second time that day I burst into laughter and explained that Newt, who looked rather offended, was in fact a boy and I was buying the binder for Teri. The man apologised and walked away for a moment, leaving me to have to find something new to stare at so as not to let my eyes wander around the store. I stare at Newt, who was blushing so badly he looked the colour of a fire truck. I felt so horribly awkward being here, I honestly couldn't wait to leave. When the man came back he held 5 binders, all differently styled and each more inappropriate than the last. He'd picked up mediums, which was thankfully Teri's size. I point to the most neutral one and ask how much it cost. $200 later, Newt and I walked back to the main shopping complex, hand in hand and shopping bags swaying in our hands. I have never been so relieved in my whole life to be walking away from a building. When we got back to the main complex, I bought a bunch of things for phase two...
"So, back to your's?" Newt asked as we headed back to the car. I was about to respond when hands pressed into Newt's torso, pushing hm to the ground. A pair of jocks from our school start laughing, kicking him as they walk past and calling him such horrible, derogatory things. I turn on them faster than they were ready for, one of them yelping as my hands grasped the front of his coat. I bought his face close to mine, staring him down.
"The fuck did you just say?" I say menacingly. The boy's friend goes to pull my hand away, but I swiftly punched him in the face, his nose gushing blood on impact. He crumpled to the ground in a scream of agony that I silenced with a perfectly timed side kick as he was falling to the ground. This made the one I had in front of me seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation. He gulped and tried to get away, but I held him in place. "Answer me you piece of filth!" I yell in his face, making him whimper.
"I-I said, g-go to h-h-h-ell you dirty ffff-fag." The boy looked on the verge of frightened tears. One of my hands released his jacket, only to uppercut him. His lip got caught by his teeth, breaking the skin and making blood rush down his chin. He fell to his knees, his hand flying up to try and stop the blood flow; it wasn't really working. His whimpers and cries began to annoy me, so I swiftly kicked him in the side of the head, knocking him out and effectively silencing him. I look down at his other friend, who was on the ground, for he had stumbled when trying to get away and was paralysed in fear, unable to continue running. I walk over to him and crouch down, gripping his hair in both of my hands and glaring at him.
"Consider this a warning to you and anyone who even thinks about hurting Newt again. Tell them that this is what happens. Got it?" I growl, making the boy nod in understanding. I nod once, punching him in the cheek and standing, giving him one last boot to the stomach to make sure I got my point across.
"Damn kid..." Malia said as she surveyed the damage I'd inflicted. "I saw some kid push Newt over so I got out of the car to help, but it looks like you've got it handled." I shrug in response as I walk over to Newt, who looks worried yet in awe. At least he wasn't mad at me for some reason.
"I told you I'd protect him." I say simply, Malia still gazing at the blood splattered onto the concrete. I kneel down in front of Newt, taking his hand in my clean one. "You ok?" I ask softly, feeling my eyebrows crease in worry.
"I'm perfectly fine, which is more than I can say for them. You seriously meant everything you said yesterday, didn't you?" Newt asks, causing me to nod again. Newt pulls me into a hug all of a sudden, causing me to practically melt. I turn around and look at what I've just done and gasp quietly. God, I hate it when I snap and get angry.
"Come on, lets get back to Teri, he'll probably get worried." I mutter as I let Newt go, helping him up and keeping a hold of his hand as all three of us collect the bags and hinges that were dropped in the commotion. We all pile into Malia's car and begin the drive back to my house.
I'm so so sorry that this chap is a bit late, but I've had a huge weekend. Here's the chapter now, hope you like it!
