The clouds were gray hopefully it would start raining after the game. Tonight was a big night as captain I would lead our girls into the court to play and hopefully defeat the undefeated Baylor girls. If we were successful in beating them we would become the #1 team in the nation.
Tonight two undefeated teams face each other. Skip Bayless had said on espn this morning.
I led the team on to the basketball court to start our warm ups.
"Layups first girls." I grabbed some balls and threw them to the first fine.
"Dylan, there are some people I'd like you to meet." Preston gestured over to the bench where a group of guys in suits stood. "This is the NCAA president and some of the other coaches." I shook their hands and held a short conversation before returning to the warm ups.
Half way through our warm ups people started to come in to the gym. I looked up and saw Rob with some of his friends waiting for the game to start.
The rest of warm ups went by really fast, the national anthem seemed to go by like a second, and now came the fun part playing ball. Desha Beauski was lined up to jump, Kennedy Riggs and I were the starting guards, Mollie Cooper and Paige Wilson started at post and center. The people in the stands were all standing and cheering really loudly.
The game was pretty much back and forth like we expected. We'd score they'd score, but we never let them take the lead. The final buzzer sounded but the score was tied 81-81. Overtime. Baylor slowly started to fall apart, sloppy passes and they fouled left and right. 3 seconds left on the clock and we had just thrown the ball in. Sprinting I drove to half court and released the ball in the air. The buzzer went off right as the ball swished through the net. Everyone went crazy.
An hour and a half later I finally left the locker room after the buzzer shot everyone ran onto the court lifting us up, then we had some interviews to do, and the locker room was pure chaos.
The lights were still on in the gym. I walked through the doors down to the court.
"That was an amazing game." Rob.
"Why thanks!" I couldn't stop smiling.
Rob put his arm around me and we walked out of the gym. "I love your smile."
"Rob!" I started blushing.
"Well it's true I do." Rob laughed. When we got out of the gym the rain started. We were almost to the dorm when Rob stopped dead in his tracks.
"Rob come on if we stay out here to long we'll get a cold." I grabbed his arm to pull him to the building but he didn't move he just stood there. Then he grabbed my arm and pulled me close to his body. I could feel the heat from his body even though we were both soaked. We stood there for a minute and then Rob bent down. His lips brushed mine, and we stood there kissing in the rain.
