Could this be real?

Hospitals.

Can I just say I hate hospitals. I'm not even truly sure why, but my stomach clenches and my heart rate shoots through the roof when I enter.

"Dylan he will be okay...." Chris's arm wrapped around Zoe as she spoke softly. I stood by the window. "Please just say something." I hadn't spoken since Rob had been hit which was close to 3 hours ago. I couldn't even move hardly. Rob.... Rob is my everything, what if I lost him. Silent tears slid down my face.

Rob had been hit in just the right place and he went down. The EMTs raced on to the field and carted him off. Soon after a security guard came and got us. One of the best back surgeons had been called in.

"Dylan......." Diane spoke softly into my ear as she tapped my shoulder. I turn to her. Eyes filled with hope. "He wants to see you."

I walked into the room, even though it was mid-afternoon, the room was dark. Rob laid on the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. I choked back my tears.

"You know I should be the one crying." Rob joked motioning me over to the bed. I practically ran over to him careful not to touch any of the tubes and wires connected to him.

"How do you feel?" I choked out my words my voice cracking at the end.

"Like a thousand knives where stabbed into my back." Rob looked at the ceiling.

"I'm so sorry." I looked at the ground willing myself not to cry.

"Dylan it isn't you fault. You couldn't have known." Rob lifted my chin. I nodded slowly, Rob's family started coming into the room. I had completely forgotten they had not seen him yet. I eased myself away from the bed allowing his family to get closer. Slowly I made my way out of the room.

"Dylan where are you going?" Zoe stuck her head out the hospital room door.

I shrugged my shoulders and headed to the elevator. Because I didn't know where I was going. But I was going somewhere.
