To be honest, I never wanted him to stop our little conversation. However, despite his confidence for calling himself the superman. I wasn't going to take any of it. He had a problem of underestimating his strength and endurance. The last thing I wanted was to have him collapse due to exhaustion in the middle of a battle. But since we stopped talking, and I had to face the missing and yearning waves again in that dark room, sleep seemed like an impossible thing to achieve. I squirmed and rolled around the bed all night, for now the bed which I normally deemed small with Perseus around was now as vast as a field. Despite the fire that constantly sipped into the room its warmth, it was still not enough to chase away the coldness and loneliness that surrounded me.
I got out of bed long before the grey sky could be penetrated by ray of sunlight. Striding across the garden of the cave, my fingers brushed gently over the lilacs and nightingales, as they spayed against my skin their morning essence somehow calmed my nerves. I was never allowed to step out of the room until recently. But I could assume as much of the people live in Perseus territory. But with him going to war and the warriors that followed him, the cave now seemed hollow and abandoned.
Decided not to dwell in this emptiness of the cave any longer, for it reminded me of my times when Perseus went missing, I jogged to the main entrance that led away from Perseus's territory. Surprisingly, there was no sentries around to guard it. My hands pushed against the stone door that sealed Perseus away from the world. I expected it to be heavy and was about to summon my power to push that door open. But it slides wide across the floor like a wooden door. Sunlight assaulted me the moment those seals were unlocked. A gust of wind blasted against my face, as the sight of the forest was awaiting me from beyond.
My foot stepped onto the gravel path, and immediately halt before the sole could touch them. Stepping beyond this gate means leaving Perseus's territory. I had promised him to stay out of trouble and to never set foot outside the cave. But one glance around me and I knew I was alone. In this vast an emptiness of the Territory. I expected not to run into any trouble since the forest was just a few yards from the Cave's main entrance. No other Wolves would bother or dare to come as close to Perseus's territory anyway. So, my feet landed on the path, and time stood still. A moment of silence, as I watched vigilantly for anything to pound on me or rustles in the bushes.
Nothing, just complete silence.
Taking a deep breath, I took another step. Then another, and another until my speed was picking up and I sprinted toward the wood afar.
The shadow of the canopy casted upon my face as I sighed in bliss. The forest was my life source, along with the Moon. Being close to them made feel rejuvenated. I have been to many forests, travel along many jungles. But this wood somehow marvelled me with its anciency, for the old oak trees that rose to the sky, as it extended its branches, like a hand that tried to block the sky. Mosses and ferns and wild flowers latten the ground, as little insects crawled across the roots of the giants. I could sleep here, could stay here forever. Droplets of morning dews fell upon my hair, as the lilac sang against the breeze that somehow sipped into the dense forest. I was surprised by how much the Wolves could influence nature, turning anything to its primitive state. For as long as I could remember, this forest was that of the Jurassic Age. Of course, I was never there to begin with, for I was only just four thousand years old. How could Perseus hide something like this from me was what I wanted to rip his ear off once he returns. It was like right next to his base and he never allowed me to visit it.
Just then I knew the reason why.
"Hey!"
A voice came from somewhere between the trees on my left. Just great for me to decide to stay out of trouble.
