Chapter XXXIV: The Tale of Recollection

Lunar's POV

I sat there on the grass, still shocked from what just happened. It happened so quickly, the blood, the violence took place but lastly. Percy was taken away from me again. The portal closed before I could open my mouth, as I reached my hand forward only to grab air and wind. It was only a while later when my composure returned that I managed to get on my feet. Therion knelt before me, lifeless. A hole was made on his torso by Perseus and blood kept pouring out, staining the green grass in red.

I heard a groan and turned around to see Paecus.

"Gosh, Paecus" I rushed over to him. He was injured from head to toes, his arm....his arm was ripped off.

"Perseus..." He bite his lips from the pain.

"I'm sorry..." I sobbed. "They took him. I'm sorry"

"Paecus!" Zoe voice came from behind me as she staggered over and dropped by his side. "No, no, no"

"It's okay" Paecus smiled. "It takes more than that to kill me"

"You lost an arm you idiot!" Zoe cried, tears dropping down from her cheek.

"Thals" he murmured. That's when we remembered another hunter was injured as well. Zoe came over to Thalia, a spear still buried on her shoulder. Zoe didn't dare to pull out the spear as it would risk Thalia bleeding to death. Fortunately, Zoe was now a goddess and her strength could carry unconscious Thalia over to where Paecus was laying.

"We have to get to Olympus!" Zoe said. "Apollo can help you"

"No!" Paecus caught her hand. "Not Olympus. Not at this time"

"What are you talking about? You will die if you don't get that wound treated!" Zoe exclaimed.

"They..." Paecus groaned as he moved. "They have Perseus now. With Therion's death, soon they will launch an attack on our land. We go to the Underworld. Our armies are trained there. It will soon become our main base because Olympus won't hold at this current situation."

"Fine" Zoe gave in. "As long as you two get treated well. I don't care."

Paecus grabbed my hand and I startled. "You are coming with me. There's a person you need to meet"

"I-I..." I was still stunned from the whole event.

"You have to remember who you were. Only you can stop the war now" Paecus put more pressure on my hand as he emphasised.

"Zoe...get the hunters to Olympus and warn everyone. You will set up the initial defence with Ares and Hephaestus. Contact Jason and the Demigod patrons to set up defence around Olympus. Demeter and Hera will organise the retreat. Take this..."

Paecus handed Zoe a red tablet.

"Zeus can be stubborn with leaving Olympus. That's why he gave me this red code because he doesn't trust his own decision. In circumstances like this, he gave me permission to use it to override his authority. Show this to the gods and Zeus will know it came from me."

"What are you going to do?" Zoe asked.

"I need to plan the defence of the Underwold. The Wolves won't stop once they take over Olympus. With my condition, I can't lead the troops to the battlefield. You will take command of tactic. Ares have to lead the vanguard in the initial assault. Get the Seven to help you."

"I know what to do" Zoe said. "You have to get well okay"

Paecus nodded and Zoe gave him a tight hug before disappearing into a thin smoke. Paecus turned to me.
