Hauling Perseus across the wood was no easy task, especially when most of my strength was diminished by the blast I took earlier. I should've shouted for help, should've screamed at the top of my lungs for anybody. But I didn't, because I knew where we were and who were around us. If any of my father's assassins were to find out that Perseus is not dead—yet. They will come and make sure he will never see the sun again. So I had to swallow that scream, whimpering across the dense burnt wood as I dragged his body.

"Come on!" I cried, trying to push him over a boulder. The way was blocked and I couldn't use teleportation. I have exhausted my own magic as well. With a grunt, Perseus body rolled over the large rock and I heard a thud on the other side. That must be painful, especially with the wound on his back. I had grabbed a cloth, which was the sleeve of my shirt around his wound. But blood was still oozing out from the hole where that spear landed. I jumped over the boulder and knelt  down next to him, I laid his head on my thigh, checking for pulse.

Thanks Chaos he was still alive.

"Perseus?" I called, slapping his cheek. I needed him to remain conscious, because the longer he stayed that way, the more chance of him to survive this. Right now, I feared the words 'I want to sleep, Artemis'  coming out from him more than anything.

"Perseus!" I called him again, trying to reach into whatever darkness he was trapped in.

His eyes fluttered open and my heart dropped in relief.

"It's nice to see your face first thing in the morning, goddess" he smirked.

I chuckled and hugged him close. "Stay awake and I promise I will become the first person you see every morning from now on"

"You didn't keep your promise to stay out of trouble last time"

"Shut up" I slapped his chest, earning a grin from his face. "That was—different"

"So you only listen to me when I'm about to die?"

"Don't say that!" Tears threatened to fall. I was scared, so damn scared that I might just lose him forever this time. When he went missing, I never held the thought that he was dead. But now, with him in my arms and his condition, that thought was like a dagger that drilled into me. That's why I never wanted to think, to even have a glimmer of it in my mind. Yet this idiot.

His hand shaking, but still managed to reach for my cheek and brushed a tear from it. "I'm sorry" he whispered. Chaos he was exhausted. "I know you can save me. You always have a way aren't you, goddess?"

"That's right" I nodded, tears falling even more. "I'm smarter than you remember?"

And I held him up again to his feet, then let his body to fall on my shoulder. We continued our way through that wood again.

A roar came from behind us just as I made a few yards from when Perseus was last conscious. Not a roar from Werewolves, but of monster.

Shit shit shit

If they found him now, he would be dead in seconds. In panic, I concentrated all of my power, squeezing out whatever magic I had left in me and snapped. I teleported, a short distance but still created a significant gap between the monsters and I. But I knew they would smell us out, would chase after us. So I tried again, grunting and panting and we disappeared.
