I found them in the room that the Dummies were in, "If we can wedge a chair under the door handles, that should stop anything from getting in." Ah yes, cause a Minotaur was afraid of wood.
"Help yourself to tea. Guys, tea over here." Rita tries to comfort everyone. Amy is with the Trivolian.
The Doctor walks over to me, "Where the hell have you been? A man died today and you won't tell me what is going on!"
"Well, If you read the scanner before you left the Tardis. You wouldn't need me to tell you." I pat his cheek.
He growls, "What? Is this supposed to be a lesson? Some big thing? I get it, now tell me what is going on!"
"No." My voice is eerily calm, the calm before the storm, "You clearly haven't learned your lesson. You are looking, listening. You need to observe. You need to do better, or peoples lives will be lost."
I pick up tea that Rita had made.
"Every time the Doctor gets pally with someone, I have this overwhelming urge to notify their next of kin." Rory laughs then flinches, "Ooo. Sorry. The last time I said something like that, you hit me with your shoe. And you literally had to sit down and unlace it first." I overhear this and want to slap him a bit myself.
"What exactly happened to him?" Rita was confused.
"He died."
"You are a medical doctor, aren't you? You haven't just got a degree in cheese-making or something."
"No! Well, yes, both, actually. I mean, there is no cause. All his vital organs simply stopped, as if the simple spark of life, his loves and hates, his faiths and fears were just taken," Faith... Praise.
"and this is a cup of tea."
"Of course, I'm British, it's how we cope with trauma. That and tutting." I laugh.
I walked into the back. If we consume something in this world, does it stay in our system? It is just a hologram prison after-all.
"Praise him!"
Ah, it has started. Maybe I should tell the Doctor now. No, it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't supposed to be
"This is what happened to Joe!" And now everyone is panicking.
I should tell him.
"God, it's going to come for me now." It wouldn't do much good now.
"You'll lead it right here." I should warn him.
"I won't leave you. I promise you. You have my word on that." I can't."I don't want to get eaten." Oh, today is a brilliant day to break the rules.
"Calm down." I rush out of the room
"He's going to lead the creature right here!
"Hold it!" He fires his sonic screwdriver to get silence. It works, "Thank you."
"Don't you see? He'll lead it right here."
I giggled, "Don't be such a worry wart, and besides, you won't get eaten."
Howie looked hopeful, "I won't?"
"No," I shook my head, "You'll just have all the living essences of you sucked out. Much worse."
"Look, whatever it is out there, it's obviously chosen Howard as its next course. Now, tragic though that is, this is no time for sentiment. I'm saying if it were to find him, it may be satisfied and let the rest of us go." Everyone stares at him judgingly, "All I want to do is go home and be conquered and oppressed. Is that too much to ask?!"
"It's okay. I'll stay with Howie." God, is it possible to love someone after only meeting them twenty minutes ago? "You take the others and go."
"We mustn't split up! We shouldn't even go in any more rooms. I can tell some of you have already found your rooms." I glance to Rita, Howie, and Gibbs, "And I can tell that some of you are keeping secrets... Rory mainly."
He scoffs, "As much as you have no right to expose someone of having secrets, you're right." He turns to the Doctor, "I keep seeing exits."
The Doctor pondered on that for a minute, "Joe said everyone has got a room... Why don't you?"
He then turned to Trivolian, "Your civilization is one of the oldest in the galaxy. Now I see why. Your cowardice isn't quaint, it's sly, aggressive. It's how that gene of gutlessness has survived while so many others have perished. Well, not today. No one else dies today. Right? Brilliant."
"Howie, any second, it's going to possess you again. When it does, I'm going to ask you some questions. Please try to answer them."
They all sit down around a table, I stay by the door.
"I hope my mum's all right, s-s-she's going to be w-worried." Poor boy. He really is just a child.
"Howie? Howie. Howie, you're next. We're all dead jealous. So, tell us. How do we get a piece of the action? Why isn't he possessing all of us?" Where is your faith, Doctor? Who do you believe in?
"You guys have got all these distractions," He taps his head, "all these obstacles. It'd be so much easier if you just let it go, you know? Clear the path."
"You want it to find you even though you know what it's going to do?"
I want to find it, I don't want it to find me.
"Are you kidding? He's going to kill us all. How cool is that?" They all leave Howie to sit at the table.
"It's as I thought. It feeds on fear."
I cut the doctor off, "False!"
"Everything, the rooms, Lucy's note, even the pictures in reception, has been put here to frighten us.So what do you mean?" He turned to me.
I smirked, "Oh, The Doctor doesn't know." I shook my head, its too soon, I can't start showing signs, "When you get scared, what do you do? Who do you turn to?"
"You resist it. Do whatever you have to. Cross your fingers, say a prayer, think of a basket of kittens, anything to not give in to the fear."
I nod, "Precisely... Maybe it's not the fear that it wants, but the faith of a scared man... That would explain the whole, 'Praise him' thing."
"What are we actually going to do?"
"We're going to catch ourselves a monster." He then glanced to me, "See whose theory is right."
They scatter around to try and trap it. I stay with Howie and Gibbis the Trivolian.
"Bring me death! Bring me glory! My master, my lord, I'm here! Come to me. I'm waiting here for you. He has promised me a glorious death. Give it to me now. I want him to know my devotion.
"Praise him. Praise him."
"Let his name be the last thing I hear. Let his breath on my skin be the last thing I feel. I was lost in shadows, but he found me."
He is tied to a chair, and his voice is being transmitted through the intercom. Looks pretty happy though.
"His love was a beacon that led me from darkness to light, and now I am blinded by his majesty. Humbled by his glory! Praise Him."
The musak squeals as the Doctor had likely pulled the wire, it pulled Howie out of his careless trance, "What's going on? You lied to me."
"Calm down, Howie. This is for your own good." I smack Gibbis upside the head.
"You were told not to speak. If you want someone to listen to, to obey, then listen to me and shut your trap." He cowers.
"At least stand where I can see you." I stand in the doorway.
"Don't talk, don't even think about escaping or I will kill you and you will never make it to your Master." My voice grows darker, as I embrace the gift that'll save us all one day.
I am the only Master here.
