"Mason, who gave you this letter?" I asked. Right now I had mixed emotions. Hope, because my father could still be alive. Anger, because Xavier agreed to the deal that involved my mother's life. And finally, happiness from the fact that my mom left me a keepsake...Her last words.

Mason sighed. "You're not gonna believe this, but...He's alive!" Mason gave me a warm smile.

"Who's alive?" I growled, knowing the answer.

"Xavier!" Mason said, full of excitement. Obviously, he didn't understand the situation. He thought I would be ecstatic, and I would. Had I not read that letter...

"Mason, you don't understand. If not for him, my mother would still be alive!" Anger boiled inside of me.

"She gave him her life, so in return he'd protect me. But he didn't. He's been alive this whole time, and not once has he even helped!" My mother died for nothing!" I screamed and fell to my knees. A single tear fell down my face.

Mason sat beside me, rubbing my shoulder. "I'm sorry," he whispered.

"Don't be," I looked up at him. "I've been thinking...You don't have a way to defend yourself. I mean, other than your fists. Me, I have fire. You...Need a melee weapon. A sword or...Or a blade!" I suggested.

"I'm sure there's a weapon shop around here," I looked around in a circular motion.

Mason nodded. "This way," he pointed and started walking. I followed, close beside him.

"Um, Scarlet...Can I read the letter?" Mason asked hesitantly. Looking down at the letter in my hands, I nodded and gave it to him.

For the next few minutes, he read silently. Every few seconds he would look up to make sure we were on the right track.

Once he finished, Mason handed the letter back to me. "When we're done here, we can go to that camp. Or we can look for your dad," Mason looked at me.

"No. As much as I want to save my dad, I can't. We have to stop the Aqua Raiders first. In order to do that, we need to visit the camp," I told him.

The problem was, I couldn't remember where the camp was at. I refused to say it aloud, but we needed Xavier's help.
