"Ah. You must be the Scarlet Flame everyone's been talking about. To be honest, I think they may have exaggerated your strength," a male voice laughed behind me. I spun around, only to see nothing.

Everything was dark, and I felt lost. Having no idea where I was, I cried out for help. Panic rose inside me when the voice spoke again.

"What are you going to do, Scarlet Flame?" He laughed cruelly. I dropped to my knees, my head pounding.

"Who are you?!" I cried out. "What do you want?"

"It's quite simple, really. I want you to fail in your quest to stop me." He chuckled, and I felt a sharp pain in my side. I felt helpless, unable to do anything.

"Please, stop!" I pleaded.

"You're pathetic." The voice scolded. "You'll only be your own downfall, naïve girl."

My eyes shot open, and I sat up in my bed. Mason's bed was beside mine, but empty. Memories of the previous day flooded into me, and I sighed, knowing the nightmare wasn't real.

"Mason? Xavier?" I called, placing my feet on the ground and standing up. Mason came rushing into the room as soon as I looked up.

"You okay?" He asked, walking up to me.

"Yeah. I'm fine." He smiled at my response, and I smiled back. It was good to be with him and Xavier, safe.

"Come on. Xavier's in the kitchen, with breakfast." Mason led me into the room overflowing with an aroma of bacon and eggs. My stomach growled, and I rushed to the table.

"Someone's a bit hungry." Xavier chuckled, cleaning dishes. Mason sat next to me.

"Thank you, Xavier." My voice was unclear, seeing as I had stuffed my mouth with food. He laughed a bit, and looked at me.

"What was the dream about?"

I froze, wondering how he knew. It had been my plan to forget the dream, or nightmare, and move on. It couldn't have meant anything.

"What dream?" I asked, pretending not to know what he was talking about.

"Oh, come on Scarlet. We both heard you mumble in your sleep. Xavier said you've never talked on your sleep before, so something's up," Mason clarified. As much as I cared for him, he could get on my nerves.

"Fine. Some guy had told me I would be my own downfall, that I was naïve, and a bunch of other pointless stuff. It didn't mean anything..." My eyes averted from them. Cause it's not like I can have an ordinary nightmare and mumble in my sleep, I thought sarcastically.

"Hmmm." Xavier thought for a minute, then continued what he was doing. For the rest of the day, they left the subject alone.

After we finished eating and got showers, we headed outside. Xavier had prepared a boat just outside the village. It would take us to the group my mother had originally planned for me to go to.

"After you," Mason smiled, gesturing for me to get on the boat. I thanked him and stepped on. He followed behind me, and we sat down. Xavier stepped into the front and started the engine.

"Scarlet?" Mason asked. I looked at him, but he avoided eye contact. "Yeah?"

"What do you plan to do once this is all over? Once we've stopped this...War?" He stared out at the sea.

"To be honest, I never really thought about it." My eyes followed his, and I sighed.

Sorry for the crappy update. This is more of a filler. But, it's almost Christmas! So, I'll be working on more updates. Happy early holidays! Tysm for all the votes and comments, Imortalkitty!
