Recap of Elliot's POV:

"I have known America for the longest time, our families are friends." He speaks up, after a deep thought.

"Ever since she left the palace, I have been wondering what she was doing and praying that she would forgive me for what I did. The sleepless nights and worry filled days I had, now are wort it. I know you were meant for her. Don't break her heart, if you do—nothing can spare you from me." He says and the door opens, revealing America in a comfy striped dress. She looks at the person next to me and her hands go up to her mouth in shock; her eyes big. I rush to her side and grip her shoulders as I make her sit down in my spot. I crouch next to her and hold her hand. Eventually her other hand falls down into her lap and she lets out a unsure whisper.

"Aspen?"

- Elliot's POV -

"Mer, it's been so long." He whispers to her and stares at her.

Mer?

"Why are you here?" Her face lingers of disbelief.

"Maxon." I feel her absentmindedly shudder at the name of our king.

She had feelings for him, she is bound to react in some way. Don't overthink it.

"He wants you to go to the palace and help him accomplish your dream." He whispers, as if the moment will turn out to be dream if he speaks any louder.

Why would he want her to go to the palace?

"Why?" She questions, recalling something.

"He says the queen refuses to help him, because she doesn't want to make a wrong decision." He explains, and America looks at him blankly.

"He wants you to help him, get rid of the castes." He gets quieter as he speaks, looking around to make sure no one heard. America looks at him with disbelief and smiles—but the smile is gone in the matter of a few seconds as she realizes something, and shakes her head gently saying 'no'.

"Mer, take this opportunity...get rid of the unfairness. No other kid should have to steal to feed themselves and their family. We were born into the life of hardships—you can help change it. So, everyone can follow their passions and talents. Like, your brother and mine. Please go—change the world; just like you were meant to." America looks at him and tightens her grip around my hand. She looks at me, for approval.

America, is a flame of justice that will never extinguish. She will be the one to change the world, for us and every family there is.

I nod my head at her and she looks back at Aspen.

"So, when are we leaving?" America questions.

"After we talk to the doctor." I say as I gently pinch her nose and Aspen nods.

"I will be waiting." He says.

"Sounds like a plan." He gets up and walks back down the path he came from.

"Let's go." I say and we walk towards the doctor's office.
