Chapter 28 - Natalie's P.O.V
I sat in the rock hard wooden chair in Olivia's room, her and Kate feverishly working over me while Margo sat back across the room, admiring their work. She was done getting ready, as were the other two, but apparently I wasn't trusted to get ready for a dumb part by myself.
Maybe it was the fact that this would most likely be my last party here in Pennsylvania with my friends, which would explain why Kate kept tearing up.
My makeup was done in a way that it wasn't too much, but it still made my features pop with (of course) Olivia's trademark glitter at the outer corners of my eyes. I didn't know what I was wearing yet. I had work a cute strapless maroon shirt that was skin-tight besides the ruffles that cascaded down the front with super tight dark skinny jeans and black pumps, but I was informed that this was not what I'd be wearing to the party. Really, I didn't see anything wrong with it, but apparently it was "unacceptable!".
Right now I wasn't even going to pretend that I understood Olivia when she talked about these things.
Suddenly, Olivia walks out of her closet with a wicked grin on her face, holding up a piece of dark red fabric in her arms. And with a shock, I realize it's supposed to be a dress and I'm supposed to be wearing it and my jaw dropped to the floor.
I started shaking my head immediately, "No, hell no, I will not be caught looking like a slut!"
She rolled her eyes, "You're wearing it and that's final."
"Not a chance," I swore solemnly and Olivia let out a defeated sigh. Thinking I had won, I smirked and shrunk down back in my chair only to be grabbed by Kate and Olivia got up in my face.
"Put on the dress!" She screamed.
"No!"
Her nostrils flared like they always did when she got frustrated, "Just put the damn dress on!'
"I'm not wearing the dress!" I shouted back, determined not to give in. I was not wearing that, no way in hell!
Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to hell.
I walked out of the bathroom, huffing, a frown permanently etched on my face as I stepped back into Olivia's room with the red dress suffocating me.
It was short and skin-tight, making me feel slutty enough. But it didn't stop there, it cushioned my butt and my boobs so as to make them look huge. Not to mention it really brought out the parts of me that I was insecure about, specifically my stomach. It clung to every curve it could find, not that there were that many.
"You look hot!" The two girls I apparently called best friends simultaneously spoke.
Rolling my eyes, I picked up the black pumps from Kate and slipped them on, "Let's just go."
"Oh, you love us," Olivia sang as we made our way down the steps. I held onto the railing tightly to make sure I didn't fall. See, I wasn't exactly the best at walking in high heels. In fact, I'm pretty damn near close to the worst.
"Holy shit," Dylan murmured as I came down the steps, the two girls already down at the bottom.
I rolled my eyes, "It's just a dress. Let's get going, 'kay?"
Logan shook his head, "How are we supposed to control the monkeys now?"
Chuckling, I shook my head at him. Logan always considered the drunk guys trying to grope every living thing with boobs and a vagina "monkeys", just because they looked, smelled and acted like them. Really, it's actually a very intelligent comparison.
Dylan drove like he always did; he never drank, so he was always the designated driver. It's what you'd expect from him, though. His dad is a drunk slob. He never does anything to him and his mom, but that's the problem. The guy doesn't exactly support his family. But Dylan doesn't like to talk about it, so we usually never bring up anything about his family.
We pulled into the driveway of an averagely-sized brick house where cars were lined up everywhere and teenagers were all over the lawn. The party was already in full swing, and we weren't even twenty minutes late.
"Great party, I guess," I muttered and Kate agreed with me.
After finding a place to park, which was definitely not easy, we all headed into the house and straight back to the kitchen where Olivia poured fifteen shots.
I raised an eyebrow, "Three each?"
She shrugged and grinned, "It's your last party here, better make it wild!"
Laughing, we all knocked them back in an easy fifteen seconds. My friends and I, we were the champions of drinking.
When we were all at least on our third beers, Margo came stumbling in and beamed, "He-ey guys! I'm so happy you-you're here!"
She hiccuped, a sure-tell sign that she was drunk off her ass.
"Come on!" She squealed, taking my hand, "We're playing truth or dare!"
Margo led us upstairs and to the end of the hall, where we walked into a room that was practically empty except for rugs and pillows all over the floor. We sat down, completing the circle, and I looked around to find that the six of us were playing with Noah and Jarrett.
Jarrett's eyes were bloodshot and I guessed he was drunk, stoned or both. He grinned lazily, "I'll go first! Margo, truth or dare?"
"Truth," She claimed, dignified.
He smirked, "Who's the hottest guy in this room?"
"Logan," She answered without hesitation before hiccoughing again. A blush crept up on Logan's cheeks and I let out a giggle, annoying and unfamiliar to my ears.
Looking up, I found Noah looking at me with a slight smile, just a hint with the upwards lift at the corners of his mouth.
Margo clapped her hands and scanned the circle with hungry eyes and stopped on Noah, "Noah, truth... or dare?"
He smirked and leaned forward, "Dare."
She smirked right back at him, "Great. I dare you to kiss Natalie."
My eyes bugged.
Noah shrugged, "Okay."
He crawled over and stopped right in front of me, giving a crooked smile, "Hi."
Noah began leaning in, I could feel his breathing and our lips were just centimeters apart, so close to touching, to connecting and locking.
And then, the power went out.
We were enveloped in darkness and I scooted back away from him.
For a second time, I was left wishing that he had kissed me. But this time, we were consumed in darkness.
When the power didn't come back on after an hour, it was decided that the party was over and everyone left and I still didn't kiss Noah Hall.
Why did it matter to me so much?
