Chapter 33 - Natalie's P.O.V
I dropped my bag on the ground as I slumped into my seat in first period. Kate let out a low whistle beside me, "What in the hell happened to you?"
"I'm definitely not in the mood, Kate," I grumbled, rubbing my temples.
Let's just say stealing some of my parent's liquor with Noah last night might not have been the best of ideas.
Taking in his appearance as he enters the classroom, I can tell that he was way less affected by the alcohol than I.
"Long night, Princess?" He smirks, walking by.
"Ugh," I groaned and put my head down on my desk; I didn't even have enough energy to come up with a witty, sarcastic answer.
He chuckled and continued walking by.
"I'm sorry, am I missing something?" Olivia questions from my other side.
I raised my head and looked over at her, shrugging, "He was over last night for another dinner. We kind of stole some liquor and got drunk and right now I'm nursing a pretty bad hangover and I'm surprised I even made it to school today."
"Oh, come on Natalie, that's not all we did, now," Noah spoke up from behind me and I could practically hear the smirk on his lips.
Forcing a smile, I turned and faced him, "You're right, I kicked your ass at every game known to man."
His face reddened at the memory and I smirked before cringing and resting my head back on the desk and letting out another groan.
By lunchtime, my hangover was gone, mostly thanks to Dylan for bringing me coffee that I drank during our study hall.
"This is the most boring day ever and it's barely halfway over," I groaned, tipping back my coffee and finishing it off.
Dylan chuckled, "What, can't wait to get rid of us?"
"Please, if you guys never leave my side it'll be too soon," I reply.
Logan cooed, "Aw! She does love us!"
I scrunched up my face, "Oh, ha ha very funny."
He shook his head, "Everyone's a critic."
"Please stop," Olivia sidled up next to her brother, "You're not a stand up comedian but you are embarrassing everyone at this table, including yourself."
I raised my glass to her, "True."
Everyone laughed while Logan just folded his arms over his chest, pouting.
After lunch, the day sped up a little, but not much. It was still slow, but not as agonizingly slow as it was in the morning.
Walking through the halls, I saw posters lined up, advertising the Masquerade Ball this Saturday. The signs only intensified my feelings for the night.
The final bell finally rang and I sighed relief as I slipped out of my desk and the classroom, to my locker.
Opening it, I jumped back as at least a hundred rose petals fell out in front of me. Finally, at the end, a note fell out. I could feel all eyes on me as everyone stared at the girl whose locker had just threw up flowers on her. Picking up the note, I flipped it open and read the scratchy handwriting:
Turn Around.
Spinning, I found Noah, with a perfect red rose in his hand. He smiled, "So, I know you kind of threatened to kill me if I ever went into your locker again, but would you go to the Winter Formal with me?"
I swear everyone in the hall was holding their breath and to be honest I wasn't breathing too easily either.
Regaining control, I plucked the rose from his hand and smiled, "I guess I could spare you the time."
He chuckled, "That's good to hear, or else I'd be the laughing stock of the school."
"Aren't you already?" I taunted and he gasped in mock hurt.
I rolled my eyes, "Get over yourself, Hall."
He smirked, "Not a chance, Brooks. But I will pick you up at seven on Saturday."
"I'll be waiting," I called at him and he flashed me a thumbs up before disappearing down the hallway.
In an instant, I was bombarded by my friends.
"OMG! He asked you to the dance!"
"Seriously you two are adorable."
"Nothing going on between you two my ass." That last one came from none other than Olivia Mitchell herself, ladies and gentlemen.
"I don't like it," Dylan announced, folding his arms.
Logan nodded, "Yeah, he's sketchy."
I shrugged, "He's not that bad."
Smelling the rose I snatched from his hands, I stopped when I saw the girls giving me knowing looks. Rolling my eyes I shut the locker behind me, "Whatever, can we go?"
"Yes, we can go dress shopping!" Marge exclaimed and I, as well as the boys, groaned.
Someone please help me.
