I rose from my bed and walked down stairs. I made myself a cup of tea and stood in the kitchen drinking it until Scott burst through the front door, soaking wet from the rain.

“Anna! Oh thank god! I am so sorry… about your dad and… I can only imagine how you’re feeling right now and this is only going to make it worse, but it was the Nogitsune. None of it was Stiles, it was a trick. We went to the animal clinic with Kira so that we could keep Stiles safe inside behind the mountain ash shield, but the Oni got to us. We managed to hold them back and make it inside, but once we were in there… It’s been the Nogitsune this whole time.” He said, unable to come up with an appropriate way to describe what happened. “He said that he feeds of chaos and destruction. That’s what this is all about.” I cocked my head to the side and smiled which Scott only gave me a strange look for. “Deaton temporarily poisoned him… for the moment it’s dormant.” He finished out of breath.

“Chaos.” I said. Scott looked at me with scrunched up eyebrows, wondering why that was what stuck out among everything he just said. “A battlefield is a scene of constant Chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both their own and their enemies.”

“Why are you quoting Napoleon?” He asked completely confused and worried.

“You’re trying to fight it, Scott. You’re always trying to fight it, but the only way to control and conquer chaos is to become… chaotic. To let it in. To accept it as a part of life.” I almost laughed as I said. “To realize.”

“Realize what?” He asked still confused.

My smile dropped and my eyes begun to dagger his. “That you either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Something clicked in Scott’s mind after I finished my batman quote and he realized that I’d let the Nix win.

“Anna…”

“How long can you go on living as the hero, Scott?” I asked as I walked up to him. I placed my cup of tea down on the bench next to us so I could lean up and give him a hug and whisper in his ear. “It’s getting boring.” I pulled back with a smile and took the opportunity of his shock to catch him off guard and kick his legs out from under him. I picked up the mug I had put down and broke it over his head with enough force to leave him unconscious. With one final smirk I left the Stilinski house.

Stiles POV

My dad had picked me up from the animal clinic and Scott had left to find Anna. I wanted to go with him, we were both worried, especially with what had just happened to her dad, but both dad and Deaton had said that I should go straight home. So here I was staring blankly out the window of the car, but we weren’t going home. My dad pulled up outside this giant steal gates that looked like they were out of a horror movie, even more so with nightfall. Anna probably would have said that they looked like something out of the movie Underworld.

Eichen House.

We stepped out of the car and turned around at the sound of Scott’s bike pulling up behind us. I expected to see Anna with him and wish that she was, but couldn’t blame her for staying back. Not after what just happened.

“I don’t think this is the best idea.” Scott said.

“Scott… the other day I saw an MRI that looked exactly like my wife’s and it scared the hell out of me. I’m heading down to LA tomorrow to talk to a specialist.”

“Why are you putting him in here?” Scott asked, but I had to jump in.

“Actually he’s not. It’s my decision.”
