I was right about this place. You could easily get lost in it. Finding everyone was a pain in the ass. Once I caught onto a scent I would be good, but I had to find it to begin with.
After about 10 minutes I caught Stiles and Scott’s scent and at the same time heard the clanging of swords coming from the other direction, outside. Join the fight, or find and kill Scott?
3 minutes later I had caught up to Stiles and Scott. They had found Lydia and were making their way through a narrow corridor, trying to find their way out. I observed and kept my distance, watching them frantically try and find the others, to say the least it was amusing. Lydia was saying things like ‘we have to hurry,’ and ‘something bad is about to happen.’ Stiles was slowing, and beginning to grip the wall, growing weaker and weaker by the second.
“Lydia.” He said as he finally fell to the ground and she quickly ran back to help him while Scott ran out as fast as he could in front of them to help the others.
“Well, well, well.” My cool voice echoed between the walls as Lydia and Stiles turned around to see me walking around the corner. “Looks like your time is almost up, Stiles. And when you die, The Nogitsune will be more powerful than ever. We will easily tear the pack apart, piece by piece, for no other reason than… we can.”
“No… we’ll bring you back.” Stiles said.
“Always the optimist, Stiles… but didn’t anyone ever tell you a shadow always accompanies the light. Tell me Lydia, what do you hear? What shadow is lurking over your heads now? Whose ghost?” I teased.
“Stop it.” She said.
“Who is going to die Lydia? You said it yourself. Something bad is going to happen.”
“No, stop it.” She repeated as her breathing got heavier. I took a few steps forward.
“Who? Stiles? Scott? Isaac? Allison? Kira?”
“Stop it!” She yelled.
“Say it. Scream it!” I yelled. “Who is going to die?! Lydia! Scream!” She shook her head back and forth as she stood up and gripped at her hair. “Do it! Let it out! I know you can feel it! Lydia! Screeeeam!”
“ALLISOOOOOOON!” She finally screamed as her hands gripped the walls on either side of her, tears streaming down her face. He kneels fell to the ground beside Stiles and I closed the space between us.
The corner of my mouth turned up into a smile as I looked down at them. “Sooner or later the denial disappears and you’re left with the pain... Finally we’re getting to the good stuff!” I yelled with a chuckle and a toothy smile. I walked around the two lying on the ground and started walking backwards, my boots always echoing on the ground. “It’s always darkest before the dawn!” I yelled back at them and turned around and followed where Scott had left, muttering as I did, but loud enough for them to hear, “But this isn’t your dawn.”
I made it outside to see Scott cradling Allison.
“It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt, it’s okay.” She whispered to him. I looked over and saw a weeping Isaac who was slowly healing from cuts. He made eye contact with me I only smirked. Behind him I saw Reese’s retreating figure with the Oni. He spun back around and smiled, indicating it was a good night, but I couldn’t help, but notice he only had four Oni with him, not five. Kira and Noshiko were standing back, Kira in her mother’s arms as she clutched onto her sword. “You were the first person I ever loved. You were the only person I ever loved. I love you, Scott. Scott McCall” Allison was crying as Scott pushed back her hair, tears running down his face.
“Allison, no. Please don’t”
“You have to tell my dad, you have to tell him… you have to… tell…” He eyes closed and she was gone.
“No… no.” Scott whispered as he begun to rock back and forth.
Footsteps drew my attention to the right as I saw Chris approach with a gun. He saw Allison and froze. Not making a sound, no tears, or yells or pleas he simply lowed his weapon and leaned up against a nearby pole staring. Silent. I deadly silence with unblinking eyes.
Greif was a beautiful thing to behold. Another smile crossed my face as I walked over and crouched down next to Scott. Everyone was too distraught and shocked and painfully in denial that they couldn’t do a thing to stop me. “How long can you go on living as the hero, Scott?” I whispered in his ear, quoting what I had first said to him the night my father died.
Something changed in his expression. The sadness dropped and was replaced by… anger? He let Allison rest delicately on the ground and stood up, I followed him and gave him a curious look. He stared me down and said nothing before his hand reaching out and wrapped around my throat quicker than a snake. I chuckle came out as I brought my arm up, hard and fast, into his elbow causing it to bend and his hand to let go. My leg came up and extended into his chest with enough force to send him flying back and landing on the ground next to Isaac.
Kira seemed to come to her senses as she brought her sword out in front of, making her way to stand next to the guys.
“You’re not going to kill me, not tonight. Allison is dead, Stiles is dying, you’re not going to add another name to the list.” I spat with enough venom to make them flinch. I laughed at their reaction. “You know in the old days, like Trojen War old, after a battle the winning side would allow the defeated to collect and bury their dead before the next fight.” I paused for a moment taking in each and every one of their pain filled and heartbroken faces. “So collect… and I’ll be seeing you later.” I said with a final smirk as I left, following where Reese had gone.
