JOHNNY ORLANDO hummed quietly as he flipped his pancakes, him in an unusually good mood. not that it was a bad thing, but real happiness was rare in the orlando household. darian, his older sister was off living with her punk boyfriend, maddie, his eldest sister working in england in some magazine company.

his youngest sibling, lauren, clattered down the stairs, on a phone call with some guy named noah.

"morning- hey, is that pancakes i see?" lauren's interest perked up. johnny couldn't resist the urge to roll his eyes, and smiled sarcastically.

"no, it's fucking bentley. what do you think?" johnny sassed, sliding the pancakes onto a plate. "and no, i'm not gonna make you any. do it yourself,"

"but it's such hard work!" lauren complained, groaning.

"oh hey kids!" dale, their dad chirped, uncharacteristically cheery. "son, is that pancakes i see?" their dad smiled hopefully at his son, whom rolled his eyes again.

"no."

"ugh, i thought i taught you better," dale pouted, stalking off. johnny could've sworn he heard his dad mutter 'loser'.

"HONEY! DID YOU DO IT YET?" meredith, their mother yelled. their dad visibly paled, looking a lot more tense and awake than he was before. all traces of 'cheery dad' was gone. just like that.

"NO!"

"WELL, WE PLAYED ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS AND I WON, SO YOU BETTER HURRY UP."

"what's.. going on?" johnny said uncertainly, looking baffled. lauren didn't look like she understood any of the conversation either.

"well, my wonderful children," dale announced, forcing enthusiasm into his voice, "we're going to be moving. to england."
