Part 9 - The Rise and Fall of the Demon Clan

Cang Yi Shenjun had arranged to pay a visit to the ten miles of peach blossoms and asked Zhe Yan to also invite Fengjiu - he wanted to surprise her. It has been three months since Bai Qian's Wedding and he wanted to see her again. Although they never got married 70 years ago, he has always pined for her. It was love at first sight, he hoped that one day she would fall for him. He has already waited 70 years and was willing to wait a bit longer.

He had initially lost all hope until Zhi Yue had told him at Bai Qian's Wedding that Bai Yi will be looking for a King to assist the Queen of Qing Qiu. Zhi Yue convinced him that if he didn't take matters into his own hands and was not quick about it, he could lose Fengjiu to another deity. He needed to make the first move to show Fengjiu his sincerity. He needed to fight for her love.

Fengjiu has been busying herself with Clan duties within the past three months which involved Tribe meetings and visits to the villages. Two weeks ago the village suffered a very damaging flood and some of the villagers lost their homes. They started the rebuilding and future prevention measures but the flood had damaged a layer of the village's protective force field. She worked hard in the day and when evenings came, she would miss Dijun.

Si Ming had only visited her once within these last few months bringing Dijuns latest news. Dijun returned to Heaven two weeks ago, sensing something unsettling in the Realms - he needed to report to the Heavenly King. Fengjiu was worried for Dijun, although she knew that he was all powerful and very capable, she was still disturbed by this news and wanted to see if he was okay. It has been too long since she has seen Dijun and she longed to be with him again.

Fengjiu left Qing Qiu this morning to see Zhe Yan, whatever it was, she hoped it had something to do with Dijun, so they could be together again. When Fengjiu arrived, she was surprised to find Zhe Yan and Cang Yi playing chess and drinking peach wine together.

Cang Yi gazed at Fengjiu, she was beautiful in red, she looked just as alluring as when they first met. Zhe Yan told Fengjiu to sit and join them. They exchanged pleasantries and Fengjiu asked Zhe Yan what his reason was for her presence today. He looked slightly awkward and turned to Cang Yi and said 'I will get more wine and let you two talk'

Fengjiu was confused, didn't Zhe Yan ask her to come meet him today? Why is Cang Yi here? Surely he is not here to scold her about destroying his palace on Mount Zhi Yue 70 years ago... he couldn't have held a grudge for this long could he...? He never mentioned anything in the Heavens... 

Cang Yi was nervous, he didn't know how to confess his love for her without making her run away again so he asked her whether her father had discussed with her the matter of finding a King for Qing Qiu? Fengjiu didn't like where this conversation was going. She didn't want to give him any false hope and said no, I do not need a King. You of all people should know that no one can force me against my will.

Cang Yi was perplexed, this is not what Zhi Yue had told him but maybe Fengjiu would change her mind...

Before he was able to respond, Bai Zhen suddenly appeared in haste and exclaimed that Qing Qiu was under attack, Bai Yi and Bai Zhi were holding the forte but the Demon Army has already broken through Qing Qiu's force field. Zhe Yan has always kept out of the Realms affairs but he would never let anything happen to Qing Qiu so he rushed to the Heavens to seek Bai Qian and Ye Hua's help.

Fengjiu, Bai Zhen and Cang Yi hurried to Qing Qiu, everything was chaotic. Yan Chiwu of the Demon Clan had formed allies with the Red Demon Clan and brought 10,000 Demons with him. The Demons were monstrous, they were very beast like, destroying anything they could find. The people of Qing Qiu were not prepared for such an attack, they have lived in peace with the other Realms for thousands of centuries and were not good fighters. The Tribe were struggling, even though the Demons were easy to kill, there were just too many of them and their cultivation were depleting by the minute, they had used too much strength and magic. They fought bravely but many died. Seeing this violent attack on the the Fox Clan, Fengjiu had no choice but to ring Dijun's Bell Charm for help before joining the fight to defend her Fox Tribe.

Cang Yi didn't understand why Yan Chiwu (Yan) was leading the Demons into such a ferocious attack on Qing Qiu, they were acquaintances and although he knew of Yan Chiwu's brutal reputation, he never heard of the Demon Clan and Qing Qiu ever having any disagreements especially to warrant such an assault on a Tribe. Cang Yi drew his sword and confronted Yan. Yan yelled at Cang Yi to stay out of it as it has nothing to do with him. Yan shouted "You only have Donghua Dijun to blame!" He said he was doing this to prove his love for Jiheng. He will do anything she asks of him, to fight for her love. He was not afraid to kill - he was used to fights and battles. It was nothing to him, he quite liked the brutality of it all.

"Hand over the Queen of Qing Qiu or you will all die with her!" 

His eyes dark, he had the look of a possessed man. Cang Yi could not apprehend what any of this had to do with Qing Qiu. He looked around but Jiheng was no where to be found. He thought Yan had gone crazy and needed to be stopped! Cang Yi and Bai Zhen were both fighting Yan Chiwu fervently to stop him from getting to Fengjiu. 

As soon as the Demons smelt Fengjiu's blood - they all charged towards her. Fengjiu pushed her Clan out of the way and saved as many as she could. When the Fox Leaders realised what was happening, they flew over to help and protect Fengjiu but it was too late, she was already injured. A Demon had slashed into her left arm and another clawed her back - she was in agony. She killed as many as she could but she was getting tired, she was not yet a high goddess and her powers were limited. She was fighting as hard as she could but she didn't know how much longer she could hold on for, she was losing too much blood and cultivation. There were just too many of them. As she fell to the floor, she thought to herself if she dies, she wishes to see Dijun one last time... *Donghua never forget me, I love you*

It was as if Dijun had heard her and just before she closed her eyes, she saw a very powerful red aura, it killed 500 Demons with a stroke of the sword. It was Donghua Dijun. He made a force field around Fengjiu so the Demons could not get to her and gently pulled her into his arms, she was terribly weak and pale and passed out from the pain. He quickly gave her some of his cultivation to stopped the bleeding.

He kissed her forehead, when he saw colour resurfacing her face, he relaxed a bit but he was extremely pained to see her suffer like this. He loved her so much. He wished he could take the pain away.

Anger uncontrollably soared through his body, if he wasn't holding Jiu'er right now or if she had lost her life, he would have  killed the whole damn Demon and Red Demon Clan there and then without hesitation. 

He realised at that moment that he will defend Fengjiu with his life. If this is what happens when he is away from her then he never wants to be parted from her again. He made a decision from that day forward to stay by her side and never let go. She was his. He stroked her hair and whispered:

*Jiu'er - I am here now. Rest, I will be here when you wake up*

Bai Qian and Yeh Hua eradicated all the Demons and the Heaven's army captured Yan Chiwu - he will be trialed in Heaven by the Heavenly King. The Demon Leaders and Jiheng were also located and escorted by Ye Hua's Army to the Heavens. The whole Demon and the Red Demon Clans will be held accountable for today's unwarranted assault on Qing Qiu.

Dijun told Bai Yi that he will take Fengjiu to the Heavens and keep her safe until things settle down in Qing Qiu. He will protect and look after her himself. Bai Yi had no choice - he also wanted Fengjiu safe.

Dijun didn't want to leave Fengjiu with anyone else, he continued to hold her frail body and left Qing Qiu.
