Part 14 - The Unexpected [END]

It was a beautiful, warm day and the sun was glistening. Mi Gu led the guests to the Gardens of Qing Qiu for refreshments - everyone was waiting in great anticipation for the announcement of the new King of Qing Qiu. There has been lots of rumours and speculation - some say it was a deity from the Heavens and others say he is from the Ghost Tribe.  

There was a group of suitors crowding around Bai Yi and Bai Zhi demanding for a chance to battle the new King for the throne - they too wanted to become King of Qing Qiu and thought that they would be better suited to Fengjiu. Among them included Meng Shao (from the Heavens), the Black Demon Lord Nie Chuyin and Xia Chow Ji (Prince of the Underworld). 

Bai Yi and Bai Zhi looked at each other and chuckled - they told them that the decision was not theirs - it will be up to them to see if they would be able to rise to the challenge when it comes to it. Satisfied by their response, the suitors joined the rest of the guests to wait it out.

Cang'Yi Shenjun was conversing with Zhe Yan when they overheard the suitors' exchange and said  "Poor men, just like me  - they don't have a chance. Sigh" Zhe Yan - the old phoenix told Cang'Yi to move on - he's been completely defeated.  

When it was time, Mi Gu escorted all the guests into an enormous cave, it was darker inside, the ambiance was so romantic, fire flies covered the top of the cave lighting up the Cave, pink and purple flowers all over the walls and mist covered the floors - it was simple yet beautiful and mesmerizing! The guests were pleasantly surprised with it all, they thought the set-up was very unique and impressive - they couldn't wait to see what the Wedding will be like in two weeks time. 

They all hoped that the identity of the King would have been revealed by now - especially before entering the cave for the banquet but it didn't happen. 

As the guests took their seats, some noticed that many of the high ranking deities from Heaven also attended the festivities. Ye Hua was talking to his parents and Lian Song. Sang Ji and his family just arrived. This turned out to be a bigger event than anticipated and they were so happy that they didn't miss it - they thought the Heavens must have extended their respect from Bai Qian to Qing Qiu.
